Sorry folks, the only scrying I'm doing tonight involves staring meaningfully into pucker and vodka shots.

It's Halloween, I'm hitting the clubs. My scrying tools can wait another day.

wow! I LOVE your idea of Halloweening!

I'm sitting here in the livingroom, waiting - somewhat patiently - for the trick or treaters. It is now 7:30pm. We had the two neighbors kids--(I was their first stop, ) at 5pm. I have all this candy and we really do NOT need it! When it is 9pm, I'll blow out the candle, turn out the light and close up shop, discouraged yet another year here with Halloween.

TB, I wish I had the energy to scry tonight--but quite honestly, I'm tired. I've been running all day and anxious to have more kids come by and have not the energy to scry. I know better then to try it while tired and worn out.

But, do let us know what you get!!!

Thumbs up

I had a go on Halloween for the first time. I had actually meant to try it before and practice regularly but just had not got around to it somehow!

Anyway after reading different peoples guides to scrying online I totally understand about the trance like meditative state and letting 'your eyes glaze over'.

I don't think I really saw anything but found it a very interesting experience. I was much calmer from it at the very minimum with a sort of focused meditation. I tried water in a black bowl with candles around and flame scrying. I did see the clouding and misting in the water and thought I might have seen a triangle. However this is something I want to do a lot more and maybe buy a mirror or ball

interesting and intense experience at least! didn't feel unsafe at all doing it in anyway and I see what tarotbear means about the eye strain! I did it for about 30 mins and felt exhausted afterwards!

I did some scrying last night.

At one fleeting point it seemed like I was seeing a partial mask and looking in through it's eye hole. Mostly I kept seeing a lot of geometric shapes that kept changing, but nothing that was an actual object.

PS - since I am near-sighted - all I have to do is take my glasses off!

Talking scrying..

taking up the thread daniel.. as a practising white witch i believe that scrying is an important part of craft. i agree with tarot bear the worst thing you can do is hurt your eyes trying to see. Halloween is the perfect time for scrying. it is (as another put) about looking out rather than inviting in - so i wouldnt worry at all. if you do not feel comfortable doing it i would suggest that there are other ways to scry without having to go into any expense. last night for example i used a bowl of water and sprinkled fairy dust (glitter ) into the bowl while saying an incantation requesting that the goddess reveal to us things that she would wish us to see. it is a direct communication between yourself and the goddess (or god - whatever turns you on lol).. if you are still worried/concerned about inviting anything negative within your home then you can do a multitude of things to protect you.

1. learn how to craft a circle - close and open a sacred circle, call your 4 corners etc..
2. give yourself and others around you a self blessing (with salt and water)
3. perform a banishing spell prior to doing any sacred work
4. bless your home as sacred space i.e. salt and water, smudge stick etc
5. ask the tarot cards if it is safe for you to proceed
6. ask for a blessing from the goddess/god before you begin the circle
7. ensure that you follow any sacred circle instructions with joy in your heart and peace in your mind.
8. do a meditation session before you try scrying. - the moon journey is particularly good
9. ensure that the tools you use are dedicated/consecrated to your specific craft or purpose
10. have fun! - the goddess/god/green man or whoever it is you follow - i even follow mary in my witchy woo sessions - please do not feel intimidated not to try this. - go with the flow of things and if you feel that you make a slip up - then apologise to your diety and try again.

if you need anymore help - ask.. here for you.. and anyone else who has some delectable witchy woo questions.. ))
blessings be
Paula

scrying - post your results

there were a number of us at the meeting last night but i got the following:

1. the letter S - (my partner) and a heart (awww...promising as the S one is blaming me for something i didnt do.. so i have hope (and apparently so does he haha)

2. a butterfly - i am coming out of the darkness into the light - transforming myself and others around me.. - particularly appropriate .. read on..

3. star - by yule tide my current problems will be resolved and i will feel a renewed sense of peace

4. flower - my connection to tarot/witchy woo stuff/my designs came through this and my creativity generally speaking.. i am in other words opening up to new ideas and seeing things in a different light

other witchy wooers saw:

countries/travel/artwork/gaming symbols - all of these were appropriate connections and were confirmed by others collectively at the meeting.

we look for symbols all the time during meetings. i always use candles to represent the four corners and last night a clear image of the green man could be seen in the earth candle. - doesnt spook me - i just think its rather lovely to be able to feel and see that..

what do others think?
huggers ya all.. happy to help if you have any questions at all...

I had a look at the meanings of "triangles" in a dream interpretation book and to see what the symbolism might be. quite interesting. could be mind / body / spirit or many other things

@Tarotbear lol at your instant blurry eye cloudy scrying

thanks Paula for your great tips!
The funny thing is as well as learning and studying tarot, I decided on Halloween to make an intention to research and learn more about magick and witchy things I did ask for protection before doing it but don't really have any knowledge of this area, so going to learn more about it now anyway thanks for your ideas!
