I am the Queen of Procrastination!
Just saying- but this creation forum can have a very detrimental effect on naughty artists such as myself. If I am here reading all you have to say- then you can be damned sure I am not painting. I love you all to bits Wise-Ones, but i do have a deadline you know -(even if it is self-imposed). I am doing the 2 of Cups today. I've been saving it for a treat- after spending quite a while in the middle wands it will be a refreshing change. ............Sorry if this is inappropriate............ On a very different subject- I just wanted to send strength to all who have been affected by Sandy. Thoughts are with you from all over the world. I hope you and yours' are all well and able to cope in these most trying of times. We see the images but can only imagine the hardship. Words do not express....... |

I thought I was the Queen of Procrastination....too many distractions are deadly for an artist (as I sit typing away with my drawing table growing dusty behind me...) What medium are you working in for the deck? Hope you will share your 2 of cups when you are done! |

Okay you take the US and I'll take Aus. Long live the Queens! I'm working in acrylics on canvas- a little proposterous for a tarot deck, but there you go. 2 of cups is card number 46 for me. When I finish card 50 I will dust off my very webbysite as I have only the majors on it so far and i guess; take stock of where I am, where i've been and where I need to go in the final big push towards the end. Still that is a long way off and I still have all those horses to tackle. The designing and drawing of the 2 of cups went smoothly and when I stop all this typing I will begin the painting. My website is www.bonefiretarot.com if you wanna take a peek. What media are you working in Queen B of P and where can one find it? |

wooden-eye, I am not sure why I hadn't looked at your web page before, but those paintings are spectacular. I can see why it is taking you a while, what incredible detail. __________________ Either the Darkness alters, or something in the sight Adjusts itself to Midnight, And Life steps almost straight. ~ Emily Dickinson |

oh wow, this deck is going on my wishlist. It's like a vintage "tattoo" style - I don't believe anyone else has done this in tarot. You have accomplished the hardest part, coming up with a good theme/idea. I really like the World Trade Center on the death card. So interesting how tarot can reflect the times, the WTC has appeared in several decks since it happened - the only one that I didn't care for was in the Silicon Dawn deck, if you saw it, you'd understand why. Also, lots of deck art has been done in acrylics and oils - but yes, it definitely takes longer...and more to set up before starting and clean up when you are done working. Not good if you are a procrastinator...I love working in oil especially, but don't have a separate room for it right now, the only room I can paint in has a parrot living in it, and I don't want him breathing in all that stuff. So mostly now I work with acrylics, soft pastel, and watercolor pencils. I don't have a website, but have some art up on flickr...I'll come back with a link...eventually! ETA - i hope this deck will be borderless! Last edited by Bhavana; 02-11-2012 at 00:46. |

2 of cups-Bonefire
Two of Cups is approaching completion. I really should never have mentioned it as it gave me quite a bit of grief. I have a good number of cards I am happy with and a good number which i frown at and accept for now -if not for ever. Thank you so much Alta and Bhavana- your encouragement makes my heart soar. I used to design tatoos so this was something of a natural path for this deck. The theme is more tightly adhered to in the majors than the minors and trumps as too many flames would have served to confuse the elements of the suits. Plus all dark backgrounds risked becoming a little monotonous over the course of the whole deck. So began my issues with consistency which I have mentioned here before. (I realise that this just waffle as i have not yet posted any any minors- I will really soon) I'll get this unruly mob of cards under control if it finishes me off. It seems like there are a lot of different energies at play when creating a deck- from the cards themselves and those summoned up by myself; we do not always gel perfectly in the creation of an image which wants to sit comfortably in it's place in the deck. I guess I won't know until the end whether or not this a coherent deck of Tarot cards or a considerably large body of work insired by the Tarot. I cross my fingers for the former. -Any ho-onwards and upwards. |

Wow! Glad I ducked in here! Your images are gorgeous, and I really adore your style! What a beautiful deck you will have when you are finished! You have such a great graphic colorful style, that these would be equally great as t-shirt designs or greeting cards! (I know...probably not what you intended...but they are so cool...you should totally showcase them in other ways! I am hoping that the Procrastination lessens as you go! But then, I have to learn Patience! __________________ Out Of Body...Back in 5 Minutes |
