Welcome to ATF.

I have read that book and I like it very much. It helped with my understanding of those elusive court cards in readings. I am sure you will enjoy the things you learn from this site!

Looking forward to seeing you around!!!

Welcome to AT! There is a section around here for Numerology if your interests resurface. I'm sure you would be able to contribute quite a bit of knowledge for those that are learning.

I'm looking forward to seeing you around the forums.

Enjoy!

Thanks All for your warm welcomes and suggestions.

Dave(dadsnook2000) - what you wrote was what I needed to read. I opened myself up to finding out WHY wands are associated with fire and swords with air, and I found a pretty good explanation. I don't remember where now because I've been all over the place looking for answers. The gist of it was: air is associated with the intellect, thoughts and communication, which I accept, and fire is associated with passions and libidinal instincts. Air was further linked to a more learned class of people that includes knights, who carry swords. Fire was linked with the medeival peasant class, and this helped me understand what wands ARE, which may have been what was really at the heart of the issue. I retrained myself to think of wands as sticks that can be used as walking sticks, torches, firewood, weapons, etc. I don't know if that's what most people think wands are, but that helps me for now.

Souljourney - I kept wanting to say wands are air, and then I decided that fire is really not that elemental, so like you, I thought, why aren't swords metal? But then I thought, is metal just a part of Earth? And I reasoned this way until my head hurt. Then I decided I'd find a way to understand it the way most other Tarotists do. I don't want to be an oddball dissenter as a beginner... maybe later, though

ElfantPup I like the logic you used. I'll probably need to keep it in mind. I talked with a friend last night, who studied the Acupuncture stuff with me and he said at one point he tried to relate their 5-element system to the 4 elements of Tarot/Paganism...his conclusion....Don't bother. Just let them be separate. LOL I've been looking at threads about different decks. So many people get a different feel from each one that the same card in 5 different decks could have someone different meanings. So I think much of it really is that deck and it's "personality".

And as for dissenting sooner or later, why does it not surprise me that someone with the nick "contradiction" would vote for sooner. LOL. Love it.

Welcome! There are many people who have trouble accepting interchanging Swords and Wands, but it's best not to let it get to you and just read them in your own way.
