Baroque Bohemian Cats Tarot - 2 of Cups
Two felines, a male Siamese & female dilute torti longhair, toast each other with silver & gold cups. The hall they're in is reminiscent of dance halls with the wood floor, but the arching ceiling is more churchlike. True love taken to the committment level? They're all dressed up in finery, spiffy to the max. She's got a greencloak tied with a pink ribbon, and he's got a high collared ascot of some kind that almost looks like it's choking him. Even though the windows show light, the chandeliers are on to light the hall, indicating a celebration going all night perhaps, though the visitors/celebrants aren't there yet. The religious paintings in the very back of the hall look church related, though they're so tiny it's hard to tell. I'm sure the band is someplace. The dancing should start soon. Or you can teach a cat to fish, and he'll sit in his boat pouting all day because nobody gave him another fish. Last edited by HudsonGray; 04-01-2005 at 08:21. |

It's seems to be something very formal but at the same time, it is a big celebration with a part of fun too. They seems to toast to a new project. It is the start of something new between them (love or bussiness) |

They are standing in the grand hall of a castle (actually, it's the Royal Palace part of Prague castle). This hall would have been used for all sorts of purposes - grand events, meetings and gatherings, celebrations and councils. It's very much a place for social gatherings, so we felt it was fitting for this card - not to mention the fact that it's simply beautiful. One thing we tried to do in this card was take two very different cats - one is Siamese, one is Siberian - and show them in harmony together. The Two of Cups is about relaitonships, teamwork and partnerships, and we wanted to show how these can work across cultures. By the way, it's a tiny point, but one cup is more a golden colour, one is more silver. Again, it is meant to show the coming together of different elements. __________________ The Magic Realist Press and Baba Studio Tarot of Prague Baroque Bohemian Cats' Tarot Fairytale Tarot Fantastic Menagerie Tarot Victorian Flower Oracle Victorian Romantic Tarot Bohemian Gothic Tarot Alice Tarot - 2013 |

This Siamese is the definition of courtly! This card is gorgeous. With it's vivacity and richness, it really accentuates the positive aspects of this card. There's a great sense of well-being that comes with the partnership here. I really like that it's less of a romantic card than some other decks--this looks like it could be a political liason, or a business deal that is being drunk to. Very open to interpretation. They also look like they don't entirely trust one another, but they are embarking on this partnership in the hopes of building something more. __________________ "Your vision will become clear only when you look into your heart. I like this card a lot. It doesn't look as strained as some depictions. At first it reminded me of a couple's 'first dance' at a wedding, but looking at it afresh, I wouldn't be surprised if these two cats did not already know each other and that he has just approached her and asked her to dance. His right paw is offered for her to wrap her own under. A new commitment or emotional offer? The female cat looks a little less interested than the male; almost a little pensive. Is this a reconsiliation or the making up after some kind of despute? I like the gold/silver detail - mixing different families maybe; joining forces with the opposition and making a stand to help overcome prejudices. In terms of love, not having the rest of the guests there is also important to me. It reminds me of times when I have seen someone I am attracted to for the first time; when you are at a social gathering and eventually, you get to talk to that object of your desire - the way that everyone else there just disappears and all you are aware of is the person that you are attracted to - how you can feel a little nervous and the whole thing feels just like a dream. I just pulled out 'The Lovers' to compare the two. The Lovers seems much more like a marriage or relationship that has been in existance for some time, where as the '2 of Cups' reminds me more of an initial meeting - the first feelings when two are joined. In terms of a reading I did the other day, I am wondering if the trump suggests a greater commitment than the '2', which could be more involved with coming together for the first time or even a fling that is not so commited on either persons part. I've looked at the Lovers as more a partnership, since it comes up in readings where the focus is on business. all the time. Something where two people work together, spend time together, even family or long time friends--the meaning broadens out considerably this way. LOVE is a small part of it, it's the actual interplay between two that is more the focus on the card. For me at least. __________________ You can give a cat a fish, and he'll eat for a day.
