Wicca Pack - RAVEN (keeper of secrets)
I don't think we are finished with the Cord but i've been thinking about this card and...why not? Ah, if you don't know, the Wicca Pack index is here. You can always revive past threads ![]() Anyway, to the card. RAVEN The picture shows a raven, flying over hills and a river. It carries, with its beak, a long black ribbon that makes a spiral pattern on the sky. In the background, there are the white-ish top of high mountains. So, the raven is to keeper of secrets, that animal that symbolizes that the veil between this and the other world is thin. However...personally, it's still hard to tell the difference between the Raven and the Owl card. Keep secrets and hold your tongue the text says...isn't it what the Owl says as well? Any insights? |

Now Miss Yuko, please do not be cross with us . Due warning was given that I am not good at this , and I have a raging headache that I am trying to configure thoughts through today . By "not good at this" , I mean it is hard for me to be committed . But I am trying , and we must make a pleasant exercise in spite of all. I am sorry if you are annoyed with our innate slackerism. I think the owl is more the giver of wisdom and revealer of secrets , while the raven can be perhaps a shapeshifter and a trickster in order to keep secrets . I see in the illustration the bird is weaving a symbol which might be a confusing screen for itself . It suggests almost a maze . Since it is high in the air , it might signify seeing things from a broader perspective . I wonder if this raven is the same one on the shoulder of Aradia in that card? If so, perhaps the raven is also a confidante , a natural keeper of secrets . The raven is also an omen of magic and perhaps even death . Death and magic are great secrets in themselves , of course. __________________ drinking blueberry tea in the crystal room .. |

Thanks, Dark Inquisitor, for the link. In the site you gave me, the Raven is the messenger of magic from the great void(...) He is also the symbol of changes in consciousness, of levels of awareness and of perception.... In this site, we see the following description for the raven: The battle cry of an upcoming life crisis, it is a powerful protector if one can gain its favor. So, the raven is seen as the protector and the messenger. And in the Wicca Pack, it's the keeper of the secrets. But the question is...which secrets? I find that it's not the secret you hide...these belong to the Owl, the wise one, who shuts up, observes and listen. The Raven is the keeper of the secrets that are beyond you...the secrets of other worlds. Of the dark night. The secrets are hidden from you instead of by; the Raven calls you to uncover them, when you are ready. That black ribbonhe carries...it's spiral patters reminds me of the veils that separate this world from the other worlds. It's like that, if you fly towards this spiral, a tunel, you'll reach the 'otherside'. And during your journey, the Raven will protect and guide you. He's been there, a lot of times, as he has been in many other worlds. He is your protector, the keeper of the secrets you're about to unveil. The Raven is also the messenger - he comes and goes and brings things, secrets from other worlds, from other times...vision, feelings, messages. What he brings to us, what he shows us, may change us forever...as a dive into the unknown usually does... And the Raven suddenly starts to make sense to me... Book has been found ![]() ![]() ![]() Cards are still at large... RAVEN: Keeper of Secrets- The Raven holds a piece of the spiral in it's mouth...is it spiraling the spiral or is it about to pull it??? Build or pull...that is the question ![]() "Arrives at the times when the veil is thinnest"-A time to really connect with yourself, meditate, talk to SPirit, to the fae, look deep within your soul for that which you seek but is also telling you to keep it to yourself for the magic to work and to believe and trust in it. __________________ Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOOOO what a ride!' |

Remember Odin's 2 ravens Hugin and Munin. He sent them out to receive news what was going on the world of Gods and mankind. Raven and crow can also be found on graveyards, carrion birds related to the death, so messengers between the world of the living and the underworld. |
