Decks based on your favorite movie

Has anyone ever thought of creating a deck based on a movie? I had this crazy dream where I made a deck completely based on pictures from the movie Moulin Rouge. Of course this probably has something to do with my crush on Ewan McGregor..lol.. And I don't think I'd ever do it or even use it but it was interesting how I was able to think of images from the movie that could fit almost all the cards, or at least all of the Major Arcana. I didn't get as far as the minor in my dream. I know this is silly but I thought it was interesting and good for a smile at least. And if anyone is familiar with the movie, wouldn't that dopey, huge singing moon be perfect for the Moon Card, or the Duke as the Devil, and of course as the Lovers- Ewan and Nichole on top of the elephant in that one scene (or any of those scenes really). Just some examples I came up with in my dream. Really, I'm not that infatuated with Ewan that I'd go this far...really..

At the moment, I love the visually beautiful 'House of Flying Daggers' (and the visually beautiful Takeshi Kaneshiro). That would be a lovely sumptuous deck - can already see the 'Ace of Daggers' and Jin (Takeshi) as the 'Knight of Swords'. There would be some great scenes worthy of RWS based minors - for example, one where two of the main characters become trapped amongst many weapons that are thrown at them and surround them. There is enough use of air, water, earth and fire to keep the minors going and enough good characters to think about for the majors. Hmmm ... you've got me thinking now!

I would love a Black & White deck based on Jean Cocteau's Beauty And The Beast. It would be stunning, magical, eerie...I can imagine disincarnate arms holding torches as wands, jewels as pentacles, roses as cups, jewelled daggers as swords...

Me and a friend were thinking it would be cool based on Phantom of the Opera (although it would based on the orignal novel by Gaston Leroux and our elaborations on the stories) here were some ideas I had come up with (I didn't do any drawings of this since I'm lousy at drawing):

The Fool: Raoul, the Vicomte de Chagny (the young, immature boy unaware of the ways of the world)

The Magician: Erik, the Phantom, dressed in persian robes (Erik lived in Persia for many years were he worked as a magician, archtiect, and assassian for the Shah of persia, and Erik was said to have created many wonders there, perfect for a symbolism for a card that represent creation)

The Heirophant: I haven't given this much thought but I was thinking that the Heirophant symbolises tradtional authority, I thought of who would be the tradtional authority within the Opera House? the managers so the managers MM. Debienne and Poligny would be on this card.

The Hermit: this card often indicates that a mentor figure will enter into life, a guide to help navigate the paths of in your life, for this I thought it would be appropiate to have the Persian with a lantern leading Raoul through the cellars of the Opera so he can rescue Christine

The Hanged Man- I couldn't resist making the hanged man, Joseph Buquet hanging in the third cellar of the opera house, it makes sense also since the hanged man represents gaining a new perspective of things and maybe now Buquet will have a new understanding now of the warnings against divulging the ghosts secrets and throughout the novel our perspectives of this event change (we go from thinking the 'Opera Ghost' killed him to finding out he committed suicide)

Death- How I would love to have Erik in his Red Death costume in this card but I realized it did little to represent the symbolism of the card so I decided to envision this card as the kiss between Erik and Christine. Here is where Erik becomes a man by expiernces what everyone needs to be human- love. Erik changes from a unwanted creature into a human being and it will be this kiss that will do him in and eventually lead to his death.

The Devil- The Rat Catcher. To understand this card, I'll tell you my interpetetion of the character, the Rat Catcher is an escaped Turkish crimnal Erik met during his time in the Ottoman Empire. In order to create a distraction to leave that land undetected Erik created a diversion by freeing all of the Sultan's prisoners, this character included. Years later when Erik was living under the Paris Opera House, he ran into this person who had been extradited to France for killing french diplomats in Alegeria, he was sentenced to death but escaped before he could execute and hid underneath the cellars, where Erik agreed to hide him and gave him the job of catching and killing the rats in the cellars and keeping intruders away from his 'house' he is essential a slave by his own will since he fears to leave the Opera House, perfect for a card representing slavery, being bound, and holding one back (and plus he looks cool with his 'face of fire' as Leroux describes him)

The Tower- This card represents Disaster, and what a better way to represent this then by the story's 'ultimate diaster' the chandlier coming down on the heads of the Opera patrons.

The World- I have thought about this and decided the best thing for this card that represents completion is the manuscript of Erik's mangum opus, Don Juan Triumphant. The card symblozes completeion the end of the journey and Erik completed it at the end of his life it his greatest work and is perfect for this card.

For the suits I chose:

Masks for the fire symbol- some masks are made from porcelin which needs to be glazed in a furance which uses fire

Musical notes for the air symbol- Music flows through the air and some instriments need air to work.

Iron Trees for the earth symbol- Erik had a torture chamber in his house and it has room with mirrored wall with a 'forrest' made of artifical trees forged out of iron. The reason why I picked this symbol is because Trees grow in the earth and Iron is mined from the earth

Barrels for the water symbol- Even though the only barrels mentioned in the book contain gun powder, I'm sure Erik probally had barrels of wine and Raoul did think the ones with gunpowder contined water or wine.

This was all could think up of, tell me what you think
