Rachel Pollack September Meet-up - NYC
This is very late notice, but for those of you near NYC who have an interest in Rachel Pollack's meet-up Tuesday Sep12, here are the details:
Quote:
Hi, All,
Rachel Pollack's Tarot Laboratory is meeting this coming Tuesday evening, from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Jan Hus Presbyterian Church (where we met last month). It's a lovely space. This time, we are meeting right in the Sanctuary. Please join us and experience the ambience. The directions follow. But first, here is what Rachel wrote about this class:
Roll Your Own Tarot Readings
In the standard method of doing a reading you either use a standard spread (Celtic Cross, for example), or you create a series of questions for the issue. In this new method you let each card suggest the question for the next. Here's an example, from a hypothetical first question that often comes up in readings. All the cards are actual ones chosen, in sequence, from the Golden Tarot. "What should I do about my job?" You get the Death card. Something has to "die." But what? So you then ask "what has to die?" and you get the 10 of Swords. You interpret this to mean the constant anxiety and stabs in the back that goes on in your office. So then you ask "How do I get out of this?" and you get the Page of Cups. Take a step back, out of the hysteria, and calmly look at the situation. "What should I look at?" 5 of Cups reversed. Giving up on the place and getting out of the misery. "Should I quit right now?" Tower reversed. No, don't blow the place up just yet! "Then what should I do?" 8 of Pentacles. Work steadily at getting out of the misery. "What will happen?" Ace of Pentacles. An opportunity coming your way, perhaps a new job. "Will it be good?" 3 of Pentacles. Much happier work setting!
Bring your Tarot deck, materials to take notes and $27. Directions --
Here are the directions from Moira:
Jan Hus Presbyterian Church and Neighborhood House
351 East 74th Street (just off of first Avenue) north east side.
M15 bus is closest, to 72nd. Street.
Lexington Line to 77th Street (local train, I believe it's #6), walk east across 77th to 2nd. Avenue, turn right, walk to East 74th, turn left. Enter through Neighborhood House, near 1st Avenue. (212) 288-6743.
From upper west side: Crosstown M72 (72nd Street) or M79 (79th Street) to First Avenue, walk to 74th street.
Moira has offered us space in the sanctuary, for which we are very grateful. Moira to the rescue! I think you will find this historic space very interesting. It is a space that we might be using for future intensives or full-day workshops, if the details can be worked out at a later date. Please attend and let us know if you enjoyed the space. We'd really appreciate it.
See you there!
