Sheridan-Douglas Magician
Plenty to say about this card, but one thing I just noticed is how it faithfully reproduces the impossible geometry of the original TdM "Le Bateleur". The mage's feet are planted firmly under the tale yet he is standing upright: in reality either he would have to be leaning back or the table would be some kind of optical illusion, with a sloping surface and the back legs longer than the front. Quite appropriate for a trickster/illusionist kind of guy. In the Conver card for instance, the Bateleur's left foot actually protrudes slightly in front of the legs on the opposite side of the table from where he's standing.
It also struck me that in his "as above, so below" gesture he's pointing directly at the Coin with his right hand - perhaps the "below"-est of the four symbols. Quite unlike the RWS magician who points down to earth with his left hand.
