Herbal Tarot

Symbolism and imagery - A man in a green cloak faces the sea. If we could see his face he would be looking at the boat in the distance. In one hand he holds a wand two are planted behind him in the sand of the beach. The herb for this card is saffron.

Comparisons/contrasts with other decks - Very similar to RWS with the exception of the herb.

Initial reactions to symbolism/meanings - Opportunity and waiting is what I think immediately from this card. The man stands alone waiting for the sucess of the ship. He is smart and already sucessful from his endevors. Saffron is so expensive and so precious, something that would have a high trade value. It is also a bit of a lonely card too.

Secret/Renaissance Tarot (Lyle)

Symbolism & Imagery - 3 wands above a rising sun in the background. Red and orange rays spread out from the sun.

Comparisons/contrasts - Very different from the "usual" 3 of Wands. No people, no water, no vista. Much more focus on the fire energy aspect of the suit.

Initial reactions - This card has the "power", and "positive results" feeling of the 3 of Wands. There is a lot of positive energy. I still miss the meditative waiting aspect, though.

LWB - Opportunity, expansion, success.

Tarot of the Hidden Folk

Symbolism & Imagery - On a peachy background there is three wands. The wands are stubby and covered in moss. A female fairy child giggles in between the first and the second. She has short dark hair, wings, a purple top and blue pants and shoes. She is in a bizarre postion. Hands on her calfs, she appears to be rocking backwards. Sort of mooning the reader. Odd.

Comparisons/contrasts - Very different from the "usual" 3 of Wands. The kid is just an odd interpretation. It has nothing to do with the standard illustration.

Initial reactions - Playfulness, cheerfulness

LWB - Lord of abundance: He loves luxury and entertainment and likes to share it with others. I don't think that the artists read the description:)

Cosmic Tarot

Symbolism & Imagery - Three wands are planted in the ground in a triangular pattern. In the middle is a woman and three lotus flowers. The woman's postion is similar to the flowers, she looks like she is doing yoga. Her hands are above her head and she is on her knees in a triangle position. The card is pink and orange. It is beautiful! A sun/star is above her and her fingertips barely touch it. The landscape is a desert with a few rocks and little vegetation.

Comparisons/contrasts with other decks - VERY different. There is no sea or boat. More meditation than waiting. The lotus are interesting too.

Initial reactions – Meditation. Enjoyment of a situation whether it is what you want or not.

LWB - Virtue, growth, sucess through self-confidence, dreams come true, manifested will, activity, joy of discovering, prevention from controntations.

The Fey Tarot

Symbolism & Imagery:
A little fairy boy sits on the ground next to his shovel and watches 3 bulbs, beautiful glowing gold bulbs, sprout from what looks like a star growing from the ground.

Comparisons:
You can again see the usual symbols, a young boy watching what he had invested in begin to take off..

Initial Reactions:
Watching your hard work pay off, your ideas are beginning to bloom, keeping your dreams in fertile ground.

Druidcraft

Symbolism and imagery

A man stands with his back to us looking out to open countryside. Next to him are three wands growing in a straight line and they all have new leaves. There is a curved path leading away from him to the distance and this is what his eye seems to be following, like he is waiting for something to happen.

Comparisons/contrasts with other decks

This is a RWS scene for this card, although to me it has a very much stronger impression of waiting about it. The artwork is definately superior too IMO.

Initial reactions to symbolism/meanings

The overall impression colour wise is green and lush giving the immediate feeling of growth about the card. Even the man's clothes are green and brown, almost identical to the tree that he holds on to. His stance is one of being in control and awaiting potential as he looks into the distance waiting for something to happen. But he is waiting because he has finished his task, he is wanting more, he shows a kind of leadership and control of his destiny. The wands with there green shoots also show potential and growth.

The Book

All that you have been working on so hard starts to bear fruit. Your ideas, energy and enthusiasm now begin to yield positive and definite results, particularly in the field of business, communications, writing and invention. You have the vision and the confidence to succeed, and the card may also augur well if you are just embarking on an enterprise which involves long-term planning or perhaps bringing three factors together in order to launch a project.

keywords: Enterprise, confidence, realizing goals.
