Willem de Kooning Tarot?

...looking for a very abstract deck, something with purely shapes and colors...
Earlier this year I read the excellent biography on the abstract expressionist painter Willem de Kooning. I was starting to get interested in tarot around the same time. I wondered, what would a de Kooning tarot deck look like? If you are not familiar with de Kooning, here are a few links:

de Kooning: An American Master (the biography)

A deck like this would probably be very difficult for most people to read from, definitely an "art deck", but if you want abstract, de Kooning is widely acknowledged as one of the greatest of abstract painters.

Of course, there is no de Kooning Tarot (at least not that I am aware of!), but it's fun to think about.

I have the Margarete Petersen (both English and German versions, no less), which I will continue to think of as an art deck that contains some of the most beautiful pieces of art I've ever seen. That is until/unless I become an intuitive reader. At this point in my life, I'm far too analytical to read intuitively. But I'm hoping that will change at some point. I do some intuitive reading in most every reading I do, but I haven't done any reading completely intuitively yet....

The Tarocchi dei Colori is another one that I'd love to be able to read with some day.

And the Tarot of the Four Elements (with which I was recently moused!) will probably someday be my introduction into the world of non-scenic pips and an intermediary into the world of TdM.

Oh Nik I'm glad you like the look of the 4 elements! I should mention that the cards are big-ish. I trimmed the sides of mine...it's stunning both ways. Somewhere I have a link but where? I'll see if I can find it. Meanwhile YAY for finding two you love!

eta: here's a link that shows what it looks like with the sides slimmed down. I find it beautiful in all incarnations.

This is only my opinion, but you made some excellent choices, there, for a full-bore exploration of abstract decks. They enhance one another, they expand and support one another, and imho, just plain discrimination and taste shown in your last assemblage of favorites. I hope you enjoy your decks, whichever ones you get! :)
