Hallowquest book question

G6

This is the first version of the cards http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/cards/arthurian/

This is the second version, with white borders http://www.holisticshop.co.uk/product_images/zoom/arthurian-Z3.jpg

This is the third, most recent version http://tarot-dude.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/a-sovereignty.png black borders again, with gold twiddly bits in the corners :)

Thanks for the breakdown of editions, PW. Although some of the other editions look more saturated I'm happy I have the 1st edition.

Astraea

G6, you're fortunate to have the 1st edition. I have all three, and the 1st (plain black borders) and 2nd (white borders with gold knotwork embellishments) are by far the most saturated. The images in the latest edition (black borders with gold embellishments) are pallid by comparison. That might not be an issue for people who haven't seen the previous versions - but for me, it was a real disappointment.

The new book represents an improvement over past editions because the Hallowquest course is bundled with the card guide, instead of being a separate volume. This combined book was worth the price of the 3rd edition for me, but I prefer the more saturated colors of the 1st or 2nd edition cards for readings.

Yes, I like having the originals. Plus this one is from 1990, so the cardstock is pretty substantial.
