Zombies anyone?

Belinda2

I am interested in getting a zombie Tarot of some kind ( I love the TV show the walking dead) I looked at the one that many people have which are the collages which are created from 1930’s, 40’s and 50’s American newspapers.

Looking at the two decks what do you think?

I have the Paul Keppler deck and I love it. It's fun and funky, has a sense of humor (the companion booklet is quite entertaining) and is a remarkably good reading deck, considering that it is obviously intended as a novelty deck.

The other one, I don't know. Don't really like the photos or the images. It looks like it's trying to take itself too seriously.

I don't like zombie decks at all, and I can't stand zombies in pop culture anymore. I think it reached its saturation point years ago.

That said, I could at least respect a zombie deck if the author would at least try to capture the essence of zombie movies: the fear of becoming a mindless slave, being unable to resist the most primal urges such as in movies from the first half of the last century or the criticism or mindless consumerism and other aspects of western culture like in the Romero movies.

The second one you posted seems to be just a collection of photographs with some photoshopped gore in it or random pictures of cosplayers in a Zombie Walk type event. That kind of deck feels like a brainless cash grab. Decks need brains as much as zombies do.

I cannot stand zombies!! I don't watch the Walking Dead series either...Way too much gore!!
However, I don't own it myself but the Paul Keppler is a decent deck. The second one is just macabre and disgusting. I saw a video review of that one about a year ago and was totally disgusted by it. To each his own, but I can't imagine anyone wanting to own a deck like that.

I agree wholeheartedly! ;)

I own Keppler's deck and am very satisfied. I agree with what was said. It seems the second one is simply a display of veins, blood, rotten flesh with no real meaning attached to it. The Strength card is a good example. Strength = lion, so let's get a lion, photoshop some decaying flesh on him and that's good.
the only downside of Paul's deck is the card stock: a bit thick for my taste and hard to shuffle. Afa meanings though, it is a gem . Have a look at the Study group :

Thanks for your input, and just looking at the devil card I can see that the Kepplers deck has more of a sense of humor and its a bit more creative than the other deck.
