Favorite Visconti-Sforza Replacements and Why

Here is another argument for the Tower and the Devil not to have been in the deck.
Trionfi .com talks about the 5x14 theory.(Huck)

That is that the Visconti had only 14 trumps in the first place- and then another Artist was commissioned to paint a further six.

According to this there was (in English)
The Magician
The High Priestess
The Empress
The Emperor
The Hierophant
The Lovers
The Chariot
Justice
Hermit
Wheel
Death
Hanged Man
Judgement
Fool........
Then came the other 6 -Star/Sun/Moon Strength/Temperance/World.
So in that theory there is no Devil/Tower replacements needed.

That's an interesting idea, and one I had not heard before. I love Trionfi! There are a lot of possible scenarios. The Tower may have originally been in the deck and gotten lost (or stolen) but no Devil. All four 'missing' cards may have been stolen, it's hard to say.

As far as the topic goes, we should keep on topic, but if you have something else, you could start a new thread. I'm up for a new subject.
