In general, a quite traditional interpretation. The cat is an elderly blue female they found in a shelter. In fact, many of the cats they photographed for this deck were shelter cats. She holds a staff with a head that looks like Anubis. I like that touch. It hints at this hermit's age and wisdom. She holds a lantern in the other paw, and walks by an ornate doorway. Just in frontand to her right is a knarled tree, mirroring her age. She looks a little weary, showing her age, and yet her lantern shines bright enough to see and make her way forward. For some reason I'm reminded of Buddhist monks, and I feel inclined to offer her a bowl of rice.
