"Defacing" Decks

I want to deface-away that nasty-looking guy on the bottom of the Coffin card in the Art Nouveau Lenormand. But I did a test with my Sharpie on a Magic: the Gathering card and it wipes off, even after drying forever. So, any and all ideas for doing something with that ugly fellow are more than welcome!!! Please?!?!?!? I want to do something that won't detract from the otherwise-gorgeous artwork.

Just saw this thread had come back to life and had quite a laugh reading through it. I'd like to think I'm more sane now than when I invested all that time trying to make the Robin Wood ok. I'm sure in a few years I'll look back at what I'm doing now though and realise I'm still quite insane. Thanks for the positive feedback though bodhran and daphne.
