Phantasmagoric *Knight of Wands*

Little Baron

I have been waiting for this little guy to show up. I know nothing about him but I always stop and look at him when I shuffle the deck and he pops his head round.

This Knight wheres a blue top hat. It's base resembles a crown. On his matching crop top, is the number 3. He turns the key of a jack-in-a-box. The figure inside looks happy and has its arms spread open wide. A wand lays on the table beside of it.

Graham Cameron says of this card -
"Here we meet Whisper, the Knight of Wands, another inspirational force. He is a true Knight in shining armour. Whisper shows us a vision of how things can be achieved. We see him fixing a broken toy. Whisper comes to the rescue, helping the weak.
Whisper represents heaven-sent possibilities, and a person who can get us moving.
R: Inpatient, impulsive, overbearing"

I hoped he would be a nice character and I am glad he is. His face is kind and the little guy in the box looks appreciative.

I am affraid, for this one, I have little more to add.

Best wishes

Atomic Whispers, Like Conscience

Whisper represents a person who can get us moving, much like some other cards in the Wands suit. He looks like he's fairly bursting with energy and ideas, and it makes his wispy hair stand out with this kinetic energy of his mind. The bottom of his hat looks like rays of yellow sunshine shotting upward in limitless fire of creation.

He wears a three on his shirt to remind him of Einstein's Three Rules of Work:
1) Out of clutter find simplicity.
2) From discord make harmony.
3) In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity.

He can hear the atoms whisper it as he works and plans and dreams. Atoms are whispering all about him, and he can hear them and he whispers back to them all his concepts and the adventures he will have. Always he travels in his mind, down the corridors of atomic whispers. Hushed, air circulating. Humming.

The Explorer
by Rudyard Kipling

"There's no sense in going further - it's the edge of cultivation,"
So they said, and I believed it - broke my land and sowed my crop -
Built my barns and strung my fences in the little border station
Tucked away below the foothills where the trails run out and stop.
Till a voice, as bad as Conscience, rang interminable changes
On one everlasting Whisper day and night repeated - so:
"Something hidden. Go and find it. Go and look behind the Ranges -
Something lost behind the Ranges. Lost and waiting for you. Go!"

So I went, worn out of patience; never told my nearest neighbours -
Stole away with pack and ponies - left 'em drinking in the town;
And the faith that moveth mountains didn't seem to help my labours
As I faced the sheer main-ranges, whipping up and leading down.

March by march I puzzled through 'em, turning flanks and dodging shoulders,
Hurried on in hope of water, headed back for lack of grass;
Till I camped above the tree-line - drifted snow and naked boulders -
Felt free air astir to windward - knew I'd stumbled on the Pass.

'Thought to name it for the finder: but that night the Norther found me -
Froze and killed the plains-bred ponies; so I called the camp Despair
(It's the Railway Gap to-day, though). Then my Whisper waked to hound me:
"Something lost behind the Ranges. Over yonder! Go you there!"

Then I knew, the while I doubted - knew His Hand was certain o'er me.
Still - it might be self-delusion - scores of better men had died -
I could reach the township living, but... He knows what terror tore me ...
But I didn't ... but I didn't. I went down the other side,

Till the snow ran out in flowers, and the flowers turned to aloes,
And the aloes sprung to thickets and a brimming stream ran by;
But the thickets dwined to thorn-scrub, and the water drained to shallows,
And I dropped again on desert - blasterd earth, and blasting sky...

I remember lighting fires; I remember sitting by 'em;
I remember seeing faces, hearing voices, through the smoke;
I remember they were fancy - for I threw a stone to try 'em.
"Something lost behind the Ranges" was the only word they spoke.

But at last the country altered - White Man's country past disputing -
Rolling grass and open timber, with a hint of hills behind -
There I found me food and water, and I lay a week recruiting.
Got my strength and lost my nightmares. Then I entered on my find.

Thence I ran my first rough survey - chose my trees and blazed and ringed 'em -
Week by week I pried and sampled - week by week my findings grew.
Saul he went to look for donkeys, and by God he found a kingdom!
But by God, who sent His Whisper, I had struck the worth of two!

Up along the hostile mountains, where the hair-poised snowslide shivers -
Down and through the big fat marshes that the virgin ore-bed stains,
Till I heard the mile-wide mutterings of unimagined rivers,
And beyond the nameless timber saw illimitable plains!

'Plotted sites of future cities, traced the easy grades between 'em;
Watched unharnessed rapids wasting fifty thousand head an hour;
Counted leagues of water-frontage through the axe-ripe woods that screen 'em -
Saw the plant to feed a people - up and waiting for the power!

Well, I know who'll take the credit - all the clever chaps that followed -
Came, a dozen men together - never knew my desert-fears;
Tracked me by the camps I'd quitted, used the water-holes I hollowed.
They'll go back and do the talking. They'll be called the Pioneers!

They will find my sites of townships - not the cities that I set there.
They will rediscover rivers - not my rivers heard at night.
By my own old marks and bearings they will show me how to get there,
By the lonely cairns I builded they will guide my feet aright.

Have I named one single river? Have I claimed one single acre?
Have I kept one single nugget - (barring samples)? No, not I!
Because my price was paid me ten times over by my Maker.
But you wouldn't understand it. You go up and occupy.

Ores you'll find there; wood and cattle; water-transit sure and steady
(That should keep the railway rates down), coal and iron at your doors.
God took care to hide that country till He judged His people ready,
Then He chose me for His Whisper, and I've found it, and it's yours!

Yes, your "Never-never country" - yes, your "edge of cultivation"
And "no sense in going further" - till I crossed the range to see.
God forgive me! No, I didn't. It's God's present to our nation.
Anybody might have found it but - His Whisper came to Me!

That club seems to be over the apex of his heart. He grounds his wand energy in heartfelt actions- being of service to others. He reads tales of daring do; escapades of rescues and righting wrongs. He secretly thinks of himself as Sir Whisper. Nancy Shavick says of "3's" in a suit, "Strong creation through the element leading to advancement and growth." Here he works happily, creating a toy. It seems to have taken the place of the wand; he directs his energy through the materials he uses to create things. He will bestow this gift on someone in the community who could use a bit of magic in their lives, a bit of cheering up. Maybe Japonica will snap out of her funk long enough to answer the doorbell and find a wind up toy on her doorstep.

Maan

i always wondered why Graham called him "whisper"?

Melvis

That's what I wondered, Maan! I just love the juxtaposition of this active, fiery card being named, "Whisper". How does the saying go, 'Sometimes a whisper is louder than a shout'.

And if you think about him being a "Knight in shining armour", he's not what you would imagine that type of character to be. Heroes are sometimes clothed in unassuming guise, it would seem. I think that's something I'll keep in mind when I get this card in a reading.

I like Einstein's Rules of Work, too, freesiaskye. I should write them down. Now where's my pencil? Somewhere in this clutter, I would assume. Oh, dear.

Peace,

Melvis

Some good points there. I also thought about him being an unconventional Knight; wearing a crop top! How unconventional is that?!!

I think you have a point about the whisper being louder than a shout. This guy probably doesnt have to shout because his actions speak louder than words themselves. He is all action. He has the ability to fix that lock, turn the key and get that little guy moving again.

Love this card.

I think there’s a certain simplicity about Whisper, the Knight of Wands, as if he’s just someone enjoying what he’s doing, without any ulterior motives. He looks untroubled and smiles kindly while fixing a toy (but he could just as well be playing with it).

He seems really caught up in repairing the toy! Maybe the toy represents everything Whisper believes in: spontaneity, life’s surprises, playfulness...? I get the feeling Whisper is very devoted to a cause and that he has high ideals (and that he acts on them). He looks loyal and honest, and I think he has a very friendly nature. In fact, I got the impression Whisper was fixing this toy for someone else.

His clothes seem a bit too small for him - this could show that he’s still growing and learning (reinforced by the number 3 on his shirt?). I also felt that it was something that showed that he was still in touch with his past, with his inner child: his sense of wonder, his pure happiness.

According to Thirteen’s Tarot Basics, the threes show the results of something we put our passion, emotion, brainpower or craft to. I felt this was very fitting here!

Yellow flames leap up on his hat, showing his inner fire, his warmth and his passion for what he believes in.
