"The World's Most Misunderstood Cards"

Debra

There's a great article about tarot decks, myths, and origins here:
http://www.collectorsweekly.com/articles/the-surprising-origins-of-tarot-most-misunderstood-cards/

Lenormand and other oracle cards are also discussed.

It's in the online magazine Collectors Weekly. Caitlin Matthews and Bill Wolf make a number of interesting and kind of surprising observations (Bill is AT member OnePotato). I'm curious to hear people's reactions.

Be sure to check out the photo gallery of heartbreakingly beautiful old decks at the end!

Very nice. Yes.

reminds me, I have often wondered if there are other decks where the publisher is part of the name (Rider-Waite)

Morgan-Greer. Anna K. Granny Jones. Hanson-Roberts.

There are probably stacks.

Etteilla cards usually gives me depressing readings such as "Abandon all hopes." Next card says "Watch out for devastating attacks from enemies." so on.

That's a very interesting article. I didn't get to finish it earlier today but I'll read the rest over my coffee in the morning. Some of those old decks are absolutely wonderful. :)

Anna K. is the creator of the deck, not the publisher.

Thank you Debra for posting the link, and thank you everyone else for the comments.

It was interesting to do, as I didn't know where he was going with the story.
I'm quite happy with the result.
