Five White Horses--Rider Waite Deck

aether66

I noticed today that there are five white horses in the Rider deck.

I also noticed that the Sun card and the Six of Wands horse have the same facial pose. I noticed that the Six of wands had no mane while the Sun card white horse had a mane.

Additionally, I noticed the King of Cups white horse had the same pose as the Death card horse.

The white horse cards: The Sun, Death Card, Six of Wands, Knight of Cups and Knight of Wands.

Welcome to Aeclectic, aether66!

The color of the horses really depends on the printing of the deck you're using. In the yellow-box Rider Waite, the Knight Cups' horse is gray. Only when I got my Pam B did I think it was white (and that blew my mind). But compared to Death's horse, the KnC's horse is actually a light gray in the Pam B.

You might be interested in this thread that also looks at the horses in the deck. There are a number of already indexed threads on horses in post 33 of the RWS Forum Index.

PCS Commemorative (Pam A?), in order of decreasing whiteness:

Death - white
6/W - about the same shade as Death
Sun - very light greyish white with darker shading
Kt/S - slightly deeper grey overall than Sun
Kt/C - almost same as Kt/S, maybe a little darker
Kt/W - tan
Kt/P - black

These may look different under different lighting.
