Domestic abuse cards

As a former Victim Support worker, I'm all too well aware of these appalling facts. In fact, I did some work with domestic violence victims. The first was rather a baptism of fire. Victim Support in Newham sent me on a home visit to a female victim of assault. It was only after starting to speak with her that I learnt that it was domestic violence, and that the perpetrator might return at any time.

And you are, of course, right in saying that the death of the victim marks a bottom point. That fact passed through my head when I posted that the 9 of Swords may be more appropriate than the 10. But that bottom point places the victim beyond any guidance from the tarot, and hence (I suppose) beyond the remit of this thread.

I worked in Newham for a long time!!!:D

I'm currently leading on Domestic Abuse in Southwark CAB hence the training. I've always avoided it before though my specialism is in gender.

It has affected me quite badly but I can't seem to avoid Domestic Abuse when working with women it seems:(

Again to the wider thread, it should be well implicated by swords due to the mostly mental nature of Domestic Abuse. Any cards indicating cycles because there is a cycle to violence. The Tower for violence as we move towards Domestic Violence and of course rape and sexual abuse which is common in Domestic Abuse.

Cards of control and power: King of Swords/King of Pentacles/4 Pentacles and the Emperor.

eta Death - death may be indicated in the cards if the querent stays in the same situation. It may be something to look out for. Possibly represented by the 10 of Swords? Not sure but it may be worth bearing in mind.
