Health cards

pandap

For the past few months my partner of 26 odd years has been "off". I have done a few health readings, more for practise than anything else, and certainly did not expect the level of bad news, but they have come to be quite informative, and I thought the cards drawn may be of assistance to others who do health readings. He has recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer, with a life expectancy of around 3 months without treatment, and 6 months with chemo and radiation therapy, all being well.

Note, these cards are not from full readings, but are taken from various readings over the past couple of months. I used Rider Waite, with reversals.

Before the diagnosis, asking what was wrong with him, I got the 7 of Cups, to which I was immediately drawn to the figure that has a shroud over it, that is "something undercover that hasn't been revealed as yet".

For a general astrological spread, I got the Tower for the position of marriage/partners - which I take to be the shock at the sudden bad news regarding his health.

Illness and disease in the same spread, I got 7 of Cups, which once again, I think shows something not revealed at the time of the reading, that was under wraps.

When we went to the GP, I got 2 of Cups, which I take to represent the GP, and 2 of Wands as to what the GP will do. As the GP requested scans and x-rays, and given the man looking at the globe, I'm thinking this was referring to him having to have extensive x-rays and scans that were ordered by the GP.

The result of a CT scan was the Page of Cups reversed, which I feel indicated that something abnormal was found in the scan, as shown by the fish in the cup. (I previously did a reading for a friend who had to have an x-ray, and the card was the Page of Cups upright. He was told there was something abnormal on the x-ray, but it wasn't serious).

For the next week I got 4 of Swords, which I think indicates that he will be laid low, as he is starting chemotherapy and radiation therapy next week.

For the position of death, I got King of Wands reversed, which I now take to be his death (he usually comes up as King of Wands or the Emperor, as he is an Aries and very much embodies the King of Wands and the Emperor).

The outcome to his health was 9 of Wands reversed, as well as 7 of Wands reversed, both of which I think indicate him being defeated by the Cancer and having to give up the fight.

I have also received the 6 of Swords repeatedly regarding his condition, which now appears to represent his difficulty in breathing and a feeling of choking, (as he has a significant growth which is making it difficult for him to breath, as well as swallow) as well as the inability to move past this illness.

And finally, for ultimate outcome, I received Temperance reversed and the Star reversed, which I took to be a lack of balance and the inability to heal and the general hopelessness of the situation.

Interestingly, about a year ago, I drew a couple of cards regarding our relationship, and got the Tower, followed by the 10 of Cups. I couldn't for the life of me understand how this would make sense. As it now stands, it makes perfect sense, as after his diagnosis, we are getting married on Saturday.

I hope these cards help others and apologise for my brief interpretation of them - I haven't had any time since he was diagnosed a week ago with his illness.

7 Cups- in denial. Then, disbelief, having to come to terms with the fact that he is dying.

2 Cups- At the GP, he needs your support. Also, where is the cancer located. I see this as cancer in 2 organs, metastasized. 2 wands- again, there is a 2, which indicates dr is looking to determine how advanced the cancer is.

Page of Cups, reversed- bad news that brings emotional sadness.

Rx King of Wands- mental mindset when told the Dx. "I'm not dying! I'm not going anywhere!"

4 swords- sick, in bed, depression

9 wands, Rx, 7 wands, Rx- giving up and giving in, too tired to fight

6 swords- communication. Accepting the cancer and letting him know ,"It's ok. He can go." I suggest playing meditation music, using color therapy. 7 Sacred Flames can be found on ITunes.

Rx Temperance- Emotions all over the place, as his health deteriorates.

Rx Star- lost hope of him surviving his illness.

Outcome- Tower/10 Cups
Wow! This reading is just about you as it is about him. It's a journey you will endure together, which will be very challenging on every level.
This is a HUGE soul mission, life lesson for both of you. Finding peace and understanding in why this had to happen, finding the silver lining in this tragedy.... It is all about unconditional love. You will have to be his balance and Being strong for him. Enjoy the time you have with one another, Journal the experience b/c there is much knowledge and understanding for you to be able to help others. The love shared between you is what really stands out to me in all of these cards. There will be a time when you will have to tell him, "it's ok. I'm ok. You can stop fighting for me."

Generally speaking
Always, about 3 days to 1 week prior to death, there is a turn for the better. Their eyes are brighter. Their more lucid. Utilize this precious time to communicate everything, at this time. It's a sign that the soul is preparing to leave the physical body. With all that said, we are spiritual beings experiencing a physical human existence. So, in hindsight, Rx King of Wands.... He isn't going anywhere. He will still be with you, able to communicate with you. It will just be different.

Much love sent your way. Congrats on your marriage!

so sorry pandap! what horrible news, sending positive thoughts and  to you both!

Thanks for going over the cards as they seemed to apply. I interpreted a reading for someone on here in your readings recently and 2 of Cups came up for going to or working with their GP in that reading, like a 2 person relationship, I hadn't seen that card come up for that before and it interested me that it's come up again. Also 7 of Cups, I think he suspected something was going on but didn't want to face it or admit it, delusion almost as well as HP's idea there about denial! The idea that everything will get better on it's own if he just waits :(

In the final outcome you have got the star (rx) and at the end there might seem like no hope but don't give up hope before that! There is many people on AT who themselves or their loved ones have been given a difficult and short prognosis and they have outlived it. It's just an estimate. But I hope you have a wonderful wedding!

Thanks for posting how they seemed to apply here and don't forget as a subscriber you can always ask for prayers / positive energy or our support in the subscriber prayers area (in the spirituality section) and get support from all of us! Thinking of you both!

Thanks for your interpretations HP.

7 of Cups I think referred to no-one knowing what the disease was yet. These readings were done before he was diagnosed, so it wasn't a case of being in denial.

Unfortunately, as he has Stage IV cancer, it means it has spread to various organs, so with the 2 of Wands, the scan shows that it had already spread to more than two organs.

King of Wands reversed - this is very much him. He's fighting hard and is refusing to die.

Not sure about the 6 of Swords reversed. Thanks for the suggestion of the meditation though. I haven't had a chance to look at that sort of thing yet, but when we were at the hospital yesterday, I made a mental note to do some exploring in this regard.

Totally agree with your interpretation of the Tower and 10 of Cups. As I say, that combination was drawn a year or so ago, and I couldn't understand what it meant. I actually thought that as I had only recently started learning the Tarot, that I had pulled the wrong cards. But it seems they make sense after all.

The hindsight with the King of Wands reversed is an interesting thought. We've already been discussing the afterlife and his beliefs, etc, and he's told me he will still be with me in spirit and will be waiting for me when I die. :)

The 2 of Cups reversed came up when I did a reading the day before yesterday for how effective the chemo therapy will be. I thought this was interesting as yesterday we spent all day at the hospital, seeing two oncology specialists, who are working in conjunction with each other regarding his chemotherapy and radiation. They couldn't decide whether to hit him with chemo first, or the radiation first. So it's interesting that the 2 of Cups is continuing to come up regarding doctors.

7 of Cups - I originally dismissed this idea with HP's post. However, I think you may be both right, thinking about it more. Although he had been "off" and there was clearly something wrong, I had to constantly nag him to go to the doctor. So I do think there's the possibility that he had a suspicion that there was something seriously wrong, and that's why he neglected to see the doctor in the first place.

We haven't given up hope, although, the reality of the situation is that it is pretty hopeless. After further scans yesterday, the oncologist told us the cancer was well and truly entrenched in the liver, as well as the lung, neck, spine and lymph nodes from the original scan, which lowers his life expectancy considerably. Having said that, we're going to fight it as best we can.

Thanks for your wishes. We've been so busy trying to organise everything, the last week has been a daze. I was supposed to buy my dress and ring yesterday, but we went to the hospital at 9am and didn't get home until nearly 6 in the evening, so I may have to forfeit a dress, as time is running out. We're looking forward to the wedding though, and wish we had done it years ago, when we were originally going to. If I get time today, I'll check out the other threads on spirituality. Thanks Daniel :)
