Hi
I own and am studying the tarot using the original RWS deck. I have always thought that although the symbolism is clearer with this deck (for a beginner), the line definition and some of the colours leave a lot to be desired. I have heard some people say the colours used in the radiant version are closer to the true symbolism for the cards due to some of the colours used (blue skies in many cards such as the hermit, the wheel etc) as opposed to greyer, darker/duller shades in the original RWS.
Obviously both decks have the same images but i was wondering how much meaning (if any) i should put into the different shades? As a beginner i am still learning the meanings and what the cards say to me so its possible that a darker sky can instill a slightly different meaning to a card (bright - upbeat, optimistic vs dark - dreary, harsh etc).
Is there enough to warrant purchasing the radiant deck and learning with that?
I know decks are very personal and the 'right' deck is the one that works for you but would like people's views on these two decks and if the symbolism is that much different. I like the RWS deck so either would be great to learn with so is it just a matter of taste and im reading too much into the colours?
Thoughts and advice much appreciated.
Thank you.
