Tarot of the Master (LS Vachetta) - The Suit of Swords

Bernice

Interestingly the Ace, 2, 3, and the 7 (central sword), also the Valet, have the swords sheathed.
This gives quite a different take on the cards for me. It's both intriguing, and pleasing, the Ace in particular. Ribboned and inside a laural wreath with the legend, "love - peace' on the lower strips of ribbon.

I don't know what the writing is on the upper strips, but I found a post where Kwaw says this for the writing on the ribbon; "Kwaw: Guerra porto (war port?) amor pace (love peace) on the ace of swords"

And has anyone noticed the gauntlet and helmet on the 4 & 5 pips?
On the 4 it seems that they represent a measuring balance of sorts - maybe a plumb-line that 'hangs true'....? The swords are tightly held in a pattern.

On the 5 they both lie on the ground, beaneath the swords. Yet the swords are poised, in a balanced arrangement. No need for the helmet & gauntlet 'plumb' anymore?

There's a similar 'pair' on the 9 and 10 pips. Both cards have two daggers.

Love this deck.
