Major arcana cards and Dignities
Today at the store, while browsing, I came across something written by Sandra Thomson in her _Pictures from the Heart_. She suggests a novel method (to me and to which I won't subscribe) for dealing with the major arcana for elemental dignities. The method is not GD-tradition, but I thought I'd mention it for information purposes.
Thompson suggests that (rather than each Major Arcanum having one of the four elemental assignments) even numbered Major Arcana should be seen as contrary elements to Wands and Swords, while odd numbered Major Arcana should be seen as contrary elements to Pentacles and Cups. Presumably this is because odd numbers are masculine, even numbers feminine.
