What a surprise I had today from the postman! I received a gift that was purchased for me at Osvaldo Menegazzi’s shop, Il Meneghello, in Milan.
Apparently after he made his limited edition of 480 copies of the trumps-only Sola Busca reproduction, Menegazzi printed another sixty press sheets of the deck in a numbered limited edition.
I’ll take some photos tomorrow when I have natural light.
The Fool was printed twice on the sheet because Menegazzi used the second Fool for the front of his lovely box, making twenty-three cards, and in the twenty-fourth space on the sheet (four rows of six) is the edition card. Mine is number twenty.
The back of the sheet is printed with the same pattern as the deck. The sheet feels like the same stock as my deck. It appears to be the same printing, with trim marks, just uncut. I can see where the registration marks were trimmed off.
Or it could be that these were printed first while Menegazzi proofed and perfected the print run.
