Help me find a deck for meditation, contemplation, journaling, and healing

HearthCricket

Tarot of Transformation or the Margarete Peterson might just be the ticket!

Nevada - Tarot of Transformation is another one that's been on my radar. The borders look so big though! Do they detract from the images, I wonder?
I don't notice the borders. The cards are large, which means they're a little difficult for me to shuffle, but they're worth it. They're designed by psychologists, and they got it right, I think. The scenes are whimsical, little fantasies, but they tell stories that get me to just the point of introspection I need, and they tend to be spot on accurate in that regard. Of course mileage may vary, but I love them.

ETA: I can vouch for Margarete Petersen too.

There's another by one of the Vision Quest authors...Tarot of Love

Ooooh, the Vision Quest is gorgeous! I had never seen it before. If I can get past the Native American theme, it might work perfectly. I love the minors.

Does anyone know if it is OOP? Amazon says "ships in 2-3 weeks," which I sometimes think means, "out of print but we haven't updated our database yet," lol. Lovely deck that I would never have considered. Thanks for the recommendation!

Vision Quest is still at House of Tarot, if I look at aeclectic.net links.

If you like soft or romantic theme, Tarot of Love and Hearts Tarot come to mind:

Gayan Sylvie Winter also wrote or did designs for the Vision Quest and I liked both the design and writing she participated in.

Dangerously enabling thread here! I now have a new reason to save my pennies... Songs for the Journey!?!!?! *Sigh*
I just read that the women who created it were devotees of Osho, how interesting...

So far I'm leaning towards the Circle of Life, but I'm open to new ideas. Thoughts?

Yes! The Circle of Life is a great deck! I absolutely love it. It's one of my top three decks.

The Rohrig may not be for you, but I'll mention it anyway.

You've probably already seen the images of Circle of Life, but here are some links:

Circle of Life:

Rohrig:

The Rohrig is my number one go-to deck for the kind of work you are describing, and the Circle of Life is my number two deck. I love them both and wouldn't be without either one.

The Circle of Life deck has a magical quality to it that I have not found with any other deck, ever. It takes you to a completely magical world, an otherworld, a place not like this earth. Some of its inhabitants may resemble man, but they are not man. They are beings that exist, along with faeries, elves, and many other mystical creatures, and nature, in a wild, wild forest, somewhere across time. The footpath to this forest is hidden, but I believe we can still find it.

I would absolutely recommend that you get this deck, especially if you are drawn to the imagery. You would be surprised at what comes out in a reading.

Oh; and my third top deck is a more traditional deck, the Transparent Tarot. Now, it may be a little more traditional than the other two decks, but the imagery just reads completely differently for me.

Good hunting in your quest!

It's also available in the US at TaroBear's Lair, along with several other AGM decks. It's where I got my copy.

I would chose the LS Manga for all 4 of those.

Archetype Cards is the name of a 74-card Oracle deck - very interesting deck for meditation. Each of the Archetypes depicted show a lovely image, as well as the "light side" and the "shadow side" of each. Some of the ones represented are also in the Tarot majors (Lover, Goddess, etc.), but most are quite different, such as The Saboteur, The Healer, The Victim, The Damsel, The Angel, The Artist and The Teacher. It really helps you explore the many archetypes that are in all of us, with the good points AND the bad points of each trait or tendency.

Here is a link to Amazon - the deck is only $13 - $14!

Okay, I think I'm narrowing it down. This thread has been really dangerouns (read: really fun!) on the enabling.

HearthCricket - I'd forgotten about the Margarete Peterson! It's gorgeous! Sigh.....sometimes living on a student budget is NO FUN. :rolleye:

Nevada - Good to know the borders don't detract from the images too much. That has always been my concern with that deck. Your recommendation of a deck I had discounted for years is making me give it a look for a second time. Those images do have a way of growing on one, don't they?

Cerulean - Thanks for the info about House of Tarot. I quite like that deck, so I'll need to find somewhere to get my hands on it! I'd never heard of the Tarot of Love. It looks so cute!

DeLightFull - Tell me about it! The enabling in this thread is scary! My wish list now includes decks I'd never heard before!

Briar Rose - Thank's for the recommendation! I'm not much of one for manga, but I hear that's a good one. If I ever am in the mood for a manga-themed tarot, that one would be on the top of my list.

AprilFool - I had never heard of that deck before. It sounds like an intreguing concept, and at a great price.

Alright, so I've slept on it, and the decision's been made. It turns out this thread was playing really fast and loose with the enabling. Instead of choosing one deck, I've chosen several. At this point, I just need to get the decks in my hands to see which will click.

I'll be getting the Vision Quest, the Fifth, and the Circle of Life. If the Songs for the Journey Home and the Margarete Peterson weren't so expensive, they would be the list. Oh well. Something to drool over when I am not a student anymore.

Thank you so much for all of your suggestions! Two of the decks (Vision Quest and Fifth) I had originally discounted, but now cannot wait to get my little hands on. Yay for deck enabling! :D
