OILS for joints/muscles

and mix with the oil of wintergreen. The oil of wintergreen seems to help ease the pain, but maybe the two together would be like a double whammy.

I don't see why not! Or even use coconut oil as a base.

Arnica-
Sesame Seed Oil is a warming oil that penetrates the bone.
Boswellia Oil - which is Frankincense, very good working oil.
(Turmeric 95 curcumin - herbs)

Thanks YDM42

I am making a list!

I don't like prescription or even otc pain relievers if I can help it.

But night is the worst as I lie in pretty much one position, that and just standing. Standing in place for even a minute is more painful than walking.

After I work out and it seems my muscles are sorer than usual, or if my ankle bothers me after a strenuous run, I usually use chili plasters. The heat increases gradually and it sometimes becomes painful, but it's the nice kind of pain.

I also use this oily liniment that has camphor, menthol, and eucalyptus. Massaging it on the painful part, kneading it deeply so that it totally penetrates the muscles while waiting for its comforting warmth to take the hurt away is just all sorts of pleasurable, and it makes up for all the pain I had earlier. Only thing is it has a strong smell, so I make sure I open the windows and chase anyone out of my room before doing it.

I know the feeling. Like EmpyreanKnight said, cayenne pepper is also a good one, but it burns some people- depends on how you handle heat. Arnica and the others are not hot or damaging to the skin likes some volatile oils can be. It does not have to smell bad or strong to work. I sure hope you feel better soon. Hugs.

Thank you so much, YDM42 and EmpyreanKnight

YDM42 I really appreciate your kind thoughts. It may have been Katherine Hepburn or another actress who said, Getting old isn't for sissies :), or something to that affect.

I always thought I would mind looking older, I don't. It's the aches and pains you don't think about when you're young.

But i'm in better shape than many friends I have ten years younger as far as ailments, so I consider myself lucky. It is nice to read all the different
variations you all use to help with pain. Mine is mostly from degenerating disks that don't get better. But my muscles are strong. I say I'm held together by barbed wire and putty :)

Btw greatdane, I hope I'm not out of line when I ask this, but have you sought professional medical advice for this, like from spine specialists or such? My apologies if I sound offensive asking that question, but disk problems are pretty serious, and specially if they are degenerative, they have to be addressed as soon as possible.

I've never heard of using chili plasters, but I can see how this could help...interesting! I've got to investigate that one! My husband loves chili peppers, so I want to see which ones are the best to use. He grows some peppers that are truly very-very hot.

Yes, but please make sure to start with non-atomic chili though. First time I tried it it was really painful and my skin was so red! My nan did something to lessen the intensity, and the second was still hot but a lot comfier. You do develop a tolerance to it, and now I believe it was much much hotter than the first one I balked at.

EmpyreanKnight...no offense taken at all....

And ooooh yes. I am in my sixties. I have been so specialists. When I lived in Arizona, I had over six. For younger people, it can be hard to understand, but degenerative disk disease is very common as one gets older. Disks just start to go, like arthritis, these are more common in older age, but young people can have problems too.

I JUST saw my doctor and I said I think the disks are getting worse and he said...probably. Other than surgery, which it isn't that bad yet and I don't want it anyway as I know some who had a WORSE time after it, strong painkillers, which I won't take, or therapy (I know the stretches by heart, I am very flexible in spite of the bone probs I have), you're left with....dealing with it yourself in a homeopathic way or with over the counter pain killers.

So...short answer...oh, yes, EmpyreanKnight, I have seen doctors! It's just as you get older there are only so many options (I am due to have cataract surgery at some point as well, another thing that often crops up as one gets older :).

I do think it was very sweet of you to ask though.
