Oh, it plays well enough with new strings and all, but I feel sorry for it all those years. I think I feel the same for all these decks. Unless someone is making a point of using them on a rotating basis. What's the point of a thing not being used for what it was made for?
But I do it myself, though I strive to get rid of the stuff. I'm just suggesting that it might be freeing to let it go. *shrug*
You may be right. It's up to the individual to make that call.
I'm aware of that "if you haven't used it in a year, sell it/give it away" mentality. Why? Nostalgia hit me hard a month or two ago, and I was very sorry I had let decks go that are now OOP. It's difficult to try to hunt down decks you really really miss.
But on the other hand, living in this consumerism-driven society makes us want to buy buy buy. And the companies that furnish us with goods are only too happy to create more for us to want (or think we want).
So we have to strike a balance.
Some collect decks because they are pretty to look at, like unbound books, not necessarily for reading with. I try to use all my decks, over time. But I like having different decks for different moods, different questions, etc.
I was of the same opinion as you--I got rid of a LOT of decks because I just didn't see myself reading with them ever again and (I thought) they were just taking up space. Let someone else enjoy them. Now I'm sorry I did that. So I recommend that someone take a step back and really think before getting rid of things.
