Prisma Visions - II High Priestess

The Priestess

I find this card interesting as most of the Majors that typically depict people have faces on them, of people or animals. Here we see not the Priestess herself but the path she walks. She seems to leave a trail of pomegranates behind her, creating a path for us to follow where she'll be waiting at the other end, or where we may eventually catch up to walk alongside her. She steps through puddles, or on water itself, as the waning moon's reflection indicates. Her path is solitary, as the journey through introspection is.

The pomegranates' redness stands out against the blue and inky black backdrop. I'm reminded of drops of blood, appropriate with pomegranates being the fruit of death. The reflection of the closest pomegranate on the water gives it the appearance of an open clamshell or oyster, revealing dozens of tiny rubies, treasure waiting to be collected.

Like breadcrumbs, the High Priestess has left a trail for us to follow to wisdom at the end. Unlike the other cards, the Priestess herself is not the focus, she is merely the provider. True wisdom can only be discovered by you and by looking inward, at all of the tiny miniscule details that add up to a colourful picture.
