Very nice!!! The Opalite is gorgeous!

I picked out these two, today. A Hawks Eye, which is dark blue, green, gold and shimmers and somewhat irridescent like tiger's eye (perhaps a form of it??) and a lovely smooth piece of Polychrome Jasper, which seemed like a lovely grounding piece for meditation. I love them!

ooohhh, I love the jasper.

Here is where I sometimes have trouble. If I were to look at the hawseye, I would automatically assume it was tiger-eye. How do you know for sure what you have? Even with my Encyclopedia of Crystals (Hall) there are time when I am really not sure....

Well at the store I buy them from they label all the stones with a tag that says what it is, where it is from (sometimes) and what its attributes are. For example:

Hawks Eye~Visionary Stone

Helps to integrate true spiritual potential into physicality

Brings flexibility and trust to the expansion of psychic clarity

Provides grace as it releases completed karmic connections.

Most of the stores online also have tags on the bags or inserted in them, with similar lists. I rarely am getting a stone that I don't know what it is.

So many of the diffrences are so very subtle, aren't they? I have a lot more learning to do.

I am wondering if the attributes and uses for stones in the same family with subtle differences are basically the same, but also with small differences.
You've given me something to ponder and look into.

I sure wish we had a stone shop here. I know what I am getting online, but the boxes of different rough stones for tumbling are obviously not labeled. Some are quite obvious, others are just confusing. :)

The stores I go to do the same. Which is good because I have a swiss chesse memory. The only problem I find is pronunciation, I could tell you how to spell the crystals name but to say it aloud I feel like a right fool and a little bit stupid. I don't suppose there is a site which shows it phonetically?

Thank you! That is Ophelia. The other is Miranda. Miranda has all sorts of things going on in her, with various planes and rainbows and wispy veils. Ophelia is incredibly watery and then has flashes of colour when you least expect it!

Here are older pics of them:

OK - yes well then DEFINATELY in love with Ophelia !!!

OK, just a few last ones from me. These were sent to me by our own sweet Thorhammer. I was thrilled to pieces at the thought of just having ANYTHING from Australia, and when the pieces arrived, they took my breath away.

THANK YOU - -ohh I DO love 'tiger iron' JUST LOVE IT!

:)

a pic from me - I just realised how DUSTY my collection has become!

this pic has malachite my hubby got from India, lavender quartz (not that the colour has coem up too well..) celestite, Chinese Writing Stone, quartz with aquamarine, Selenite, Paua shell and a bit of a clear quartz bear.. a Porcelain (Kaolin) squirrel and in the back a hippo made of Soapstone...

now busily going around working out if there is any damage from dust - Oh not from dust just realised one of my metorites has rusted! I have (rather HAD) a pallasite that probably should have stayed in its paper box (protected a tad from humidity) with a silica gel bag.. Oh dear.. well that stone is transforming just not the way I had hoped!
