flashes of light......

Radiant-M

I tend to see white sparkles as a mass or the other end of the spectrum black whisps that zoom around. I often wonder if this is spirit or a guide letting themselves known, or just someone checking in.

Pardon me, but I would urge those of you who see flashes of light to be absolutely certain nothing is wrong with your eyes. It could be caused by a tiny rip or tear in your retina. If untreated these can cause your retina to detach from the inside of your eye. It can happen very fast. I nearly lost the sight in one eye due to this (I had emergency surgery). Please, if you have not seen your eye doctor, go have it checked out.

I had similiar experiences from time to time. But they can have more down to earth reason. You can see small flashes of light 'cause in the past you had migraine. At least, I think it works this way for me.

Starchaser, journaling would be awesome. Maybe there's pattern or something? Your flashes of light seems very complex.

Personally I have never experienced a twinkling like this but something more dramatic. Often when I go to sleep I get like a strobe effect. Not as fast but it is like pure black then all of a sudden a huge blinding flash of white like someone threw a flash bang in my face. It will keep happening till I fall asleep then I usually have a very vivid dream. Not sure what it is just grew accustom to it.

I have noticed when I see these twinkles my dreams are more intense and meaningful, I'm starting to believe they may be a precursor to having a message in my dream:)

I appreciate your concern, I can only speak for myself though. I am a long term Registered Nurse, the first time I saw these lights I too thought there could be a problem with my eyes, however my exams have been completely normal, only after ruling out a physical anomaly did I believe this could be a spiritual manifestation

ditto. same here. I see my eye doctor once a year--sometimes twice, IF I have something 'unusual' going on...but generally once a year. (more then normally--but due to another health issue). I've always had these lights--for as long as I can remember. But apparently, or so I think--it's a possible spiritual manifestation for me too.

I was never really sure--but those times when I also saw spiritual beings/guides with my bright lights and noticed the glow all over, etc. -- I've come to realize that yes, this is a spiritual thing for me. I also have noticed that many people seem to have this when they are experiencing spiritual situations. These lights appear mostly when I am about to be visited or something major occurs for me/someone close to me.

I often see flashes of light at night, when I get up & go to the loo without turning any light on. (This would wake me up too much & I have difficulty going back to sleep once my retinas have registered any light.) Sometimes bright, white or yellowy flashes, like flames. I take these to be static electricity, which is VERY bright in the darkness, and comes from touching any polyester, or carpets, or plastic etc.

At other times, I see reddish circles that flash at the corners of my eyes. These are quite frightening - I've always feared eye problems, but have had eye tests for glaucoma, retinal problems etc regularly, and all say I'm fine. Could they be related to high blood pressure?
I do have hypertension. Though usually my BP is nice & low at night, and rises when I'm up & under stress.
Anyway, I always feel my body is giving me some 'message' concerning my eyesight or health, but I can't divine what this is.

Are there any ways one could test or divine the cause? I feel that any 'spirit' trying to communicate with me is my own - my 'higher' or 'universal Self' that can potentially tap into & know Everything (like in tarot reading or intuitive 'flashes' of insight).
These experiences seem to be metaphors (like tarot) - but oh, if only I could interpret ... metaphors of WHAT?

Can anyone suggest any tests or experiments or interpretation ideas?
I'd love to find out how I could discover more!

That was my concern also till I read that she'd had it checked out. I too see 'lights', sometimes brief flashes, there was one person in particular, a cashier at a grocery store, that had the most beautiful wavy dark blue lights around her head; I tried not to stare so she wouldn't get creeped out. I see beautifully colored shapes at times, especially with the black mirror (did you know that a droid, kindle, smart phone, etc., can double as a black mirror when turned off??) & they resemble the scene from the movie poltergeist, when all those spirits were swirling around. The shapes morph & move around slowly, but I clearly see faces also. Sometimes I just spontaneously see 'auras' but I've not learned a way to control it.

BTW, CN is an AWESOME medium.

awwwh! thank you, canid! :) this makes my day.

I was born with an extra large pupil in each eye. Actually--as weird as it sounds (and quite befitting to me--being a bit of an oddball sort of person anyway), I do not have a round pupil, like other people. My pupil literally is clover shaped. I know, I know, it sounds ridiculous and like I'm making it up--but we didn't know this till I was about 7 or 8 years old--and my eye doctor noticed it. I made the rounds to specialists--and even to Johns Hopkins hospital and Bethesda Naval Hospital to be 'studied' and made it into medical books. I have clover leaf shaped pupils--but w/o the stem. just the four leaf part. Quite befitting for an Irish (Irish-American) gal, eh? :D

As a result, I am very-very sensitive to lights. I did go nearly blind when I was a child--of about this same age--8 or so. No one was sure if I'd go totally blind or not at that age, as the doctors/specialists I saw had never come across anyone like - ME. But, I didn't ever go completely blind--though for many years I did have to wear and still really do need to wear-dark sunglasses if I am out in the sun. This is why I also have to see a specialist once a year. That and I have another issue that causes glaucoma--so I go once a year to be checked on both counts and so far, so good!

Though, interestingly enough, it seems there have popped up in this great and wonderful world of ours--a few more people like me since I was 7 or 8. :D 2 years ago, my opthamologist was training some med students and asked if I minded if the one student came in to examine my eyes after he was done doing so. I agreed. She came in and she immediately identified my clover leaf pupils--having had studied this in one of her med classes at uni. She was as thrilled as both my opthamologist and I were--as it was the first time I heard they were teaching this now in Med school. I'm glad that it is being covered. She was thrilled to meet someone like me w/this--and couldn't wait to share her experience with her class when she went back. a win-win situation.

I'm not sure if this is also why I seem to see the lights--especially at night---or not. *shrugs* who knows? many people who have the -ahem- *normal* pupils see them like I do. So, I don't think it is because I have clover pupils in my eyes. At any rate, I think it does have something to do with my spiritual abilities--as it seems to really happen most when something extra ordinary is going to happen, I think. Maybe coincidence. Maybe not. who knows? But, it is way cool. :)

However, it is good advice to give that IF you do see lights--blinking, flashes, or whatever, and it happens a lot to you--to make an appointment to see your eye doctor. You can't take chances with your eye sight or your health!
