the most sought after / desirable / killed for decks

Alta

Sometimes it seems that the price rises quickly just after a deck goes out of print, then fluctuates as folks try and cash in on it.

This is typical of collectibles. Watch the price of Gold Key Star trek comics shoot through the roof when one of my personal all time favorite people passes on...William Shatner.

I have been working on a price guide as a bit of a fun project for tarot and the price fluctuations are all over the map for 80's and newer stuff, Decks goes in and out of vogue faster then I can update them. They rise and drop by about 30% over a period of a few months.

When I first came to this forum, people were looking desperately for the Norse Tarot and the Servants of the Light.
The Norse does not seem to be so sought after anymore (and can be bought for not too much, I think), I don't know why people stopped lusting after the Servants of the Light, it seemed to be the holy grail for tarot collectors six years ago ;) (or maybe everyone who wanted a copy found one, one way or another ?)
Also the Hermetic and the Alchemical, but these two got a reprint and can now be bought for the regular price of a deck.

Yes it is indeed a fickle market !

There is a deck that I have actually dreamed of and it is not available. It is the Firewheel tarot. It is an interesting photo collage round deck. If a copy every came available I would certainly have to consider how much I would pay for it but it would be more than my ususal tarot deck budget.

I'm still looking for the Servants of Light, if anyone has a spare! (Not that I'm willing to pay the price of a small car for it . ..)

I also have a first edition Alchemical. I'm glad other folks can now get a copy (and I might even get a renewed version myself), but I was saving it for my retirement fund!!!

If you like that one, you should definitely look into the Voyager Tarot!

I am looking forward to the Passages in Time Tarot. I hope that comes out, eventually.

Hi Peter, :)

I just looked, and FYI, the Firewheel is a majors-only deck, if that influences your decision, whereas the Voyager that Hearthcricket mentioned has 78 cards.
