Past Life and Karmic Tarot

Keslynn

This is the new book in Lllewellyn's Special Topics in Tarot. I know it's a fairly new release, but does anyone have it yet? I'll probably get it just because I like the series and am interested to see the material. I don't generally like Edain McCoy's writings very much, though.

I was just browsing over at Llewellyn and came across this title. I think I'll pick it up next time I'm at the bookstore.

You know, I've been feeling drawn to go to the store for a few days now, but I wasn't sure why... coincidence???? :D LOL

I still haven't picked this one up, but I'm curious to find out the opinions of those who have it. Anyone?

We got busy with different life things...but you are welcome to check these discussions out to see if it looks good to you.

I like it and find it useful for experimental spreads. I have another two week of night classes though, so it will take a few weeks before I get back to this.

Thank you very much! I suppose I should follow my own advice and search further sometimes, LOL. I've been reading through those threads and the spreads are very interesting. This book is going on my wishlist! :)

Hi Rhiannon,
I must say that I wasn't overly impressed with the book. For starters, the author repeatedly says that it's for advanced readers but then asserts things that she doesn't explain. You would think that a book that is truly for advanced readers would explain the reasoning behind things. One example (and I hope I'm remembering correctly because I don't have the book in front of me) is when she's talking about timing. She says that Pentacles are the "youngest" suit and represent times closer to ours, but she never says why. I would think that Pentacles would be the oldest because the Earth has been here for a really long time.

The meat of the book is the spreads, but I didn't find those fulfilling either. Of course, since the book is about Past Life and Karma, a lot of the spreads focus on that. However, after a while, the spreads ceased to be that different from each other. They kept covering the same information.

The section on methods to access past lives in other ways was altogether too short, and it really didn't tie in too much with the spreads.

Like I said, I was disappointed. But this Queen of Swords could just be overly picky.
