The Lover's Path: Ace of Coins

A marble gate luxuriantly covered with green ivy is held closed by a large gold coin. The coin bears the winged heart and crown which is the trademark of the all the aces, and of the deck itself. This is The Lover's Path Ace of Coins: when love's passion takes flight, it exalts one's physical vitality and sensual awareness. Beyond the gate, a verdant countryside rolls up towards the distant heights. In the middle distance stands Danae's brass tower, symbolizing material comfort at the expense of creative freedom. But beyond the tower, continued longing and physical striving leads to towards the beautiful heights and profound views of the bluish grey central mountain.

In The Complete Book of Tarot Reversals, Mary K. Greer observes of the RWS Ace of Pentacles,
Quote:
The RWS image suggests that physical gain may be used to keep you in the safety of the garden, close to home, rather than your exploring the unknown. The gate, however, opens toward the mountain of spiritual aspiration, a reminder that material comforts might keep you away from the path to more difficult and austere spiritual rewards.
Beyond this tower's gilded cage, the uncertain ocean into which Danae and her child are cast eventually manifests in prosperity, harmony and contentment in the Ten of Coins.

I find the Lovers Path Aces one of the most descriptive and attractive rendering of the Aces... second only to the angel/aces in Kat Black's Golden Tarot.

The garden is certainly lush here isn't it... a reminder that coins are about earthy, enviromental aspects as well as the material perhaps.
