Very interesting discussion, although I doubt there is a definitive interpretation, or that there should be. Jewish scholars have been interpreting the Torah for millennia; it is the act of pondering it that is important, not arriving at the definitive Word.

In any case, the mention of Atu XX made me faintly remember something I had read long ago in Harris's gallery notes, which I subsequently lost. But, the magic of the tubes prevailed:
