Etruscan tarot: 2 of chalices

poopsie

Description in the Booklet: A married couple is exchanging gifts.

The card is a little similar to the Lovers card in terms of theme, except that in the Lovers' card the naked full bodies of the couple are shown and it is their first night. In the 2 of chalices, the female is fully clothed while the man is half covered and both are seated on a couch ... it is almost as if the young newly wed couple in the Lovers have reached some years of togetherness and are celebrating (an anniversary?)

The woman appears to be holding a plant which she would hand over to the husband while the husband shows a ring. Another difference between this card and the Lovers card is that in the Lovers card, the man sits at the left and the woman on the right. In the 2 of chalices, it is now the reverse. The woman is on the left and man is on the right.

The woman's hair is also yellow, or gold (would this be a sign of age?)

The number two may symbolize engagements, partnerships, or it may also mean a connection within ourselves which we need to reconcile - our head and heart, our thoughts and how we feel, our emotions and our actions...

There is something we need to unify or unite, or align - possible expectations which may need to be met, a relationship issue that may need to be made complementary rather than polarized and which can be done through an exchange of affection, tenderness, sharing and giving.
