Tarot of Mermaids

I've already bought my allowed decks through March. (Got November's late and January's early, so recently started with the Vanessa and still waiting on the Druidcraft to arrive, and I only buy them every 2 months.) But I really really really really all of the sudden want an aquatic deck. Tarot of Atlantis or Tarot of Mermaids are both calling to me.

I can't help with the Atlantis but I can with the mermaids.

I bought the mermaids because I love mermaids and underwater and etc. But all the mermaids, they look the same to me! They swim around preening themselves on every card in a Doreen Virtue like way and they are very pretty. If they were on land fluffy bunnies and cute little deer would accompany them and they would sing pretty songs and giggle girlishly and oooh and aaaah over anyhing pink. (Before possibly being persuaded to do a soft porn video.) I can't read with the thing, the only way I can do it is to bring up a picture of the RWS card in my head and go from that. Oh, and all those naked female torsos don't help matters: the only courts that actually feature blokes are the Kings. Where are all the mermen? Eh? Think underwater topless volleyball with surgically enhanced females. There seems to be no or little connection to any actual folklore about mermaids, which might have helped.

There is also loads of clutter on the cards what with the borders and the different languages and everything.

It is very pretty to look at though as long as all the breasts don't put you off. But if you want a deck that'll really challenge and expand your reading vocabulary, I'd suggest that this isn't it.

ps Has anyone got the Sol Invictus? It calls to me mainly because Kiama designed it and also because it is a relative bargain if imported from the States at the moment. Because of the $/£ exchange rate.

Alrighty. Well, I do still want an 'aquatic' deck, but y'all have successfully de-enabled me from these two. So no danger of me buying one anytime soon. Maybe by my next deck purchase (March). Thanks for the de-enabling!

I already ordered the Fey, too late for de-enabling.
If I really don't like it, I can always trade it off.

RE: Russian Tarot of St Petersburg. The pictures are so small that you'll get wrinkles through squinting at it.

OK....I need serious help. I am now "on the fence" with the Bohemian Gothic deck (aka "Dark Sister").
After months of waiting and thinking it was a definite MUST-have....I now find myself hesitating.

I know that there are a lot of people who LOVE this deck, but I am asking for reasons why I should resist temptation (hence the title: DE enabling), at least until the regular, non-silver edition comes out.

Someone PLEASE talk me out of it if you can~ thanks!

Well, I'm in the same boat!
I think it's a beautiful deck, but it's also very dark. And I probably wouldn't read with it for that reason. And I don't need a deck sitting around just for the art.
I would wait until you hear from others how it reads.

Hey there! Could anyone please de-enable me for the Graven Images Oracle? I'm a big cemetery architecture buff so I'm having a really hard time not saying yes to this one. Thanks very much!

Yeah, that's de-enabling for me too, waiting for more reviews and seeing how they read over time rather than just the first time.

When they say it's dark - it is so damn dark that I am finding I have to look in the book to see the details on the cards. That 's a real PAIN when you try to read with it... (I actually HAVE the regular edition, BTW - what DO you mean? I couldn't afford the silver !) And a lot of people are saying the silver detracts from the imagery, as I recall. Makes it harder to see.

I think it looks boring. There could be a much nicer way to portray various cemetery architecture in a more powerful way...this deck seems quickly produced with little thought, IMO. This seems to be a new current theme...gothic and cemeteries. I would hold off for something a bit nicer.
