Five of Pentacles- stained glass window

I can see the twin pillar viewpoint, but it's harder to get my mind around the idea that they're buildings in their own right. This requires a lot more imagination than the most obvious explanation, i.e., they're interior pillars.

As Mary Greer said, the slits may not mean anything in particular.

They could merely represent the artist's desire for symmetry.
