A variation in Cosmic Tarot editions

Alta

I was going through my recently acquired FX edition of the Cosmic and comparing it to my much newer printing by AGM/USG. The XIX is omitted on the newer deck but is clearly there on the older deck. Thought it might be of interest.

there's a difference is size too...is the FX available anymore?

I never noticed the size thing before ! (No, nor the XIX !)

I've not seen the Schmid one for years. They went out of business, I believe. I do know Muller took it over from them. But there is now one from Urania (who took over AGM...)

with a new box !

I do know where there WAS a Schmid one for sale not long ago, if you are in NEED, delizt...

Yes, the FX is smaller 6.7 cm X 11.5 cm vs. 7.0 cm X 12 cm.

The older edition is printed in Germany by F.X. Schmid. I am not sure but I think that version may not be in print. But to be honest, while I am pleased to have it as I like the deck a lot, there isn't much difference between the editions.

ETA: I see gregory answered your question while I was writing.

ETAA: There are some very interesting comments on the artist, post 65 onward here.

I think the original colours are more intense....(I can't look right now !!) but I see Leffy has several of them and the colours vary, so...

It is VERY 80s, isn't it ! I feel rather old all of a sudden....

delizt

not in NEED, (at least not atm, lol) but it's interesting since I have only ever seen the AGM one!

Gregory, your link goes to a very odd page for me and no, not porn....

I have a few Cosmics. I have nice AG Muller colourings, nice Schmid colourings and then one Schmid colouring that is not nearly as nice as certain AG Muller colourings. One could go round in circles... Just to prove that Schmid isn't always better. But certainly the size is.

I do like this deck more and more. Yes it is very 80s but somebody somewhere said it wasn't at all but it just is, isn't it? It feels comfortingly dated.

I have a curious nostalgia for a time when there were hardly any tarot decks available. And those that were available didn't try too hard, like nowadays. Yes, I feel old too.

How odd. Saves image and uploads.... That image is what I get on the link I posted.... JUST that.

And yes - and I disagree with the person who said not 80s. I can only suppose they didn't live through them - or at least not in Europe :D

LadyDeborah

Thanks to everyone for all of this information on this deck. I have the "Made in Belgium for AGM Urania" edition. I also didn't even notice the missing number on the Sun Card.
