The Emperor as Sexual Feelings / Desire / Attraction

EnchantedOne

@Ruby Jewel

The title of your post is "Emperor as Sexual Feeling....", hence, I speak of the Emperor as a personality without sexual feeling. So, you can apply his asexual feelings to any card in the deck and it will come to the same conclusion because the Emperor is a symbol of power and control, not sex and desire, whether "raunchy" or not. That is just the way I see it as I prefer not to imbue the card with extraneous attributes. On the other hand, you are entitled to see the card any way you choose or use it to play any game you wish. I'm just not a player because I take the tarot to be a serious divination tool. Not to worry though.....carry on with your fun.

The Emperor is indisputably associated with the energy of Mars. Mars rules leadership, innovation, action, masculine energy, and SEXUALITY. He is NOT asexual. The Emperor has mastered responsible expression of all The Court King energies. Mastery DOES NOT equate to non-existence. It equates to admirable control and mature/respectable application. Meaning, when he does apply it, it is with considerable power (whether it is leading an empire or expressing his sexuality).

Also, I obviously do not believe he could ever represent anything "raunchy" (hence the examples in my original post). He is mature. I was merely explaining why vulnerability was not necessary for sexual feelings to exist. One's sexual feelings could easily be that of enjoying the sexual power you have over another, the ability to pleasure them to the point of THEIR vulnerability.

Tarot itself assigns very distinct masculine or feminine energies to most (if not all) the cards and certainly any card with a principal human representative.

This is for a reason. Sexuality as creation is actually embded deeply into the symbolism of Tarot (phallic and womb references throughout). The Emperor is only asexual in YOUR world. Not to worry though... carry on with your delusion.

I believe I said you are entitled to see the card however you wish, so there is no need to justify your opinion to me because you are welcome to it, and even parts of it I would agree with. The only point I would make is that I have yet to read where sexual energies are attributed to the Emperor. Mars is predominantly a planet of war and destruction. You seem to have an infatuation with sexuality that I do not wish to become embroiled in....certainly not enough to get into an argument over it, or stoop to insults. After all, it is only a card. You can interpret it any old way you want to...but lacking objectivity in allowing a viewpoint other than your own, I find it is not a productive conversation and therefore of no further interest to me, and I would like to end it. Therefore, let me just say this: the mistake was mine for having interrupted your post with an alternative opinion in the first place.

You seem to have confused correcting with justifying.

Mars is predominantly a planet of war and destruction.

...AND action, passion, leadership, the head, physical energy, as well as SEXUALITY. In astrology what turns you on / attracts you sexually depends heavily on MARS.

You seem to have an infatuation with sexuality

I do :)

...but lacking objectivity in allowing a viewpoint other than your own personal opinions

I'm not that way at all. I only require that a person backs up their opinions with a good argument / evidence. I support my ideas very well and will respect anyone who can support theirs (even more so if it proves my opinion wrong, b/c then I am wiser).

I find it is not a productive conversation and therefore of no further interest to me, and I would like to end it.

Officially ended.

I always felt the emperor represents a man of experience. Sex with him might be worthwhile since he will know what he's doing.

I feel it will be more passionate and old school than what the new generation know about sex through pornography.

So as feelings go his energy is closed off, he's like the king of cups controlling his emotions so it doesn't show "too much" emotion at first but when it comes to sex it will be a more sensual experience than a "sexy" one with tricks and stuff. The emperor is the dad of the deck so again he will be more caring to an extent, he may be willing to take control but would be able to read your body as well and let you take over if you want.

He is control of sexual desires as well.. like he may have an attraction to a woman but keep his cool around her and (especially if he's married) will be able to control his desires.

Usually when reading about The Emperor card, the descriptions are often limited to the kind person it can represent. Suppose The Emperor represented not the type of person themselves, but their sexual feelings, fantasies, or desires for another? For example, he/she may have the personality of The Hermit (Virgo), but their sexual desire for a specific person is The Emperor, while their sexual desire for a past love interest may have been The Page of Cups. How would that be interpreted?

--------------------------------------------------------------------

So far I have the following...
*Note: In the descriptions I speak in terms of a male's sexual desire, but a woman could also have her sexual desires represented by The Emperor. In that case I think the woman would desire to be in scenarios such as the ones described (or roles reversed).

- His fantasies are of being sexually dominating in such a way that the woman is literally powerless to the overwhelming pleasure he provides. This dominion, though physically overpowering, would not be degrading or harmful as The Emperor is a mature card of great respectability. Perhaps fantasies where a woman is so engulfed in his strength and passion that she involuntarily whimpers or cries joyful tears during orgasm.

- His desires are not of sexual domination but more so desiring to treat a woman like an Empress when making love. Sexually he feels the desired woman is worthy of his most mature and sincere sexual affections (nothing raunchy or that of a careless playboy).

-His sexual feelings are of the desire to be in a father-like role, leading the other person sexually, teaching them the ins and outs of sex. Being the woman's authority on sex.

-ORRRR....considering that The Emperor is in great control of his passions and feelings (sexual or otherwise) this card may symbolize very controlled or even non-existent sexual feelings. He is much too in control to let himself get ablaze with sexual desire. His sexual feelings are Emperor-like in that he is too mature to get distracted.

I definitely feel this represents a lot of what I think in regards to the emperor. But the last paragraph would be more if he were reversed to be honest.

My partner comes up as the emperor sometimes and he is definitely a lot of the above. He's experienced but he also wants to me to play along as well and not do all the reigning. He's also very loyal to me and like I mentioned above finds others attractive but controls his desires.

A man of experience is a really great representation of The Emperor. I feel it sums up a lot, definitely one of the terms I'm adding to my understanding of him. Thanks!

So it may be safe to say that The Emperor as sexual desire / feelings represents controlled desire (that is strong, yet traditional, when finally acted upon). I do see this and your description makes a lot of sense.

Yeah totally. I always see the emperor as all the kings on one. So he is passionate and has a good energy like the king of wands, smart and intellectual like the king of swords, grounded and experienced like the king of pentacles and in touch with his emotions and romantic like the king of cups.

I like the emperor as a man.. 🙄

Great point. I did not think about it before (not sure why lol), but the last example really would be more fitting of The Emperor reversed.

It is very helpful that you've personally experienced how Emperor-type feelings / situations are expressed. I feel real-world examples / insight is imperative to understanding the cards. Thank you. Also, it is great that your partner comes up as The Emperor (I'm sure your good qualities and their respect for you brings those Emperor qualities out).

ETA: Just saw that you added another response :)

Me tooooo. I literally explained it that way to someone, that The Emperor had mastered the qualities of all the Kings :D

Great to know you see this as well!
