Atavist Tarot

I bought this and just received it. I had been dithering about it for years, despite warnings from other tarot people and Lee's less than enthusiastic review at Tarot Passages.

I'm actually glad that I did buy it. I think she overdid the filter effects in Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro--whatever she was using, to the detriment of her own art. Too much Add Noise, Emboss, Find Edges, as well as colourization filters. I agree with Lee that she repeated motifs too often when she could have developed the Minors more originally.

She has some unusual tints and colour combinations though. On the repeated pictures she's often resized them and put swashes of colour over them. I thought these might be good to use for picking colours for my own art. I also draw and paint mandalas, and her colour combinations look very interesting to work with for that. I've done this with decks before and it works well--draw a card and work exclusively with the colours in the card.

The book has some interesting historical information in the back too.
