Alchemical Study Group - Ten

Leisa

(from the book)

Ten. Ten is the first compound number, the number of perfection, for ten reduces to one, the Monad. To the Pythagoreans, ten was the greatest number, the number of both heaven and earth; they associated it with
memory, age, faith, power and necessity. Ten is the number of the law.

In the Tarot, ten expresses the return of the many to the one. In the Major Arcana, it is the number of the Wheel of Fortune, which spins around and around: what goes up must come down, and everything returns to its source. In the Minor Arcana, ten can represent the accumulation or magnification of characteristics in a suit focuses into one.
