Alpha-Omega

I found a 1jj sswiss tarot deck, It is a French version, Can anyone tell me about the history of the deck. I heard the french version was the original. The deck is somewhere around 45 years old. is this one of the first versions of 1jj swiss?

Does it have a box? If so, what does it look like and what information does it have? The Wehman Bros. versions are the oldest ones I've seen, but there could be some that are older.

O you really lucked out there! Well done! All I know about the 1JJ is that it´s a wonderful deck, one of my faves, and that I lost mine....

I wonder if the one you found was mine? :) Hang on though.. no, I didnt lose mine 45 years ago...

Very nice! 45 years old? Not sure they are that old. Maybe an expert knows. Then again, I saw my first one at age 11 and I am 45 years old, so possible! If it is in French and has a lift top cover, rather than the kind decks have now, it sounds like the original! Very lucky you. What condition is it in and do you have pics? :)

Yes It came in a box. Red and Gold Here are some pics
and scans

It funny how I found them. I was at my aunts house and I was giving her a reading and I told her I wanted to give her a Deck and if anyone asked just tell them it was your mothers deck that you found in the house, and she tells me her mom did have a tarot deck and its in the house.
Iasked her whe she got it and she said her mother had it when she (my aunt) was little like 10 years old. So the deck is 40-45 years old prob. Its in French and her mother did visit France, so we think she bought it in France.

They are in good condition, But they are bent into a U shape, but suprising the actual condition is good. No fading or rips.

Indeed, you have found a treasure! That was, I believe, the first USGames deck (everyone correct me if I am wrong) and the deck that turned Kaplan, the founder, into the world of tarot. At that time they were all in French and in that packaging, so even at the mall in the US, that was the deck we all started off with....way back then! ;) My parents gave me my copy in 1974 for Christmas. And the collecting began. But I used mine a lot and it went many a place, so by the mid 80's it was pretty worn. Not bent nor ripped, but well used and ready to be passed on. I miss it. Treasure this!

Alpha-Omega I have a deck exactly like yours...I bought it at a half price book store for $5.00 even has the LWB.
You notice no ISBN number??? that's because it wasn't in use yet. :)
I'm glad of any extra information I can get about this deck.
Congrats on your new find.

Funny...my deck look very much like yours, including (apparently) the backs, but the box is different (it's red and gloden just like yours, but doesn't have the lift top cover). It comes with a LW...fold-out paper by Stuart Kaplan, and it says there USGames and everything. But in the box, there no mention of USGames whatsoever. Actually it says: copyright © David Wastnedge. Box printed in U.K.. The tarot cards were printed in Switzerland by AGMüller.

Guess my deck is an English version. The titles are also in french.
