Spiral Spreads?

Ursula

ok, first, i was a good witch and did a search, but i kept coming up with the Spiral deck and couldn't find a good explanation of a spiral spread.

what i'm thinking about is a spread to cover a person's entire life or a portion of it. i've read about using all the cards in the deck to do this, and i thought a spiral would be a cool shape to use, particularly since, in Jungian terms, a spiral symbolizes transformation.

are there any spiral spreads you like?

thanks,

Spiral Spread from "The Forest of Souls"

Rachel Pollack does a spiral spread in "The Forest of Souls." She uses it for "God's Reading," which she demonstrates in the book. However, she mentions the spread originally was designed for personal application, specifically with Samhain in mind. The spread was co-created with Jill Enquist.

From "The Forest of Souls" by Rachel Pollack, pages 105-106:

..........................................11

...........................................7

...........................................3

.......................................Source
.....10........6........2............................4........8........12

...........................................1

...........................................5

...........................................9

..........................................13

Source: This card signifies some core truth about you at this point in your life.

First Turn (1-4): Inner self -- emotions, desires, imagination

Second Turn (5-8): You and the outside world -- relationships, etc.

Third Turn (9-12): What you can grow into or become

The Final Card (13): Possibility for a new beginning

"Each group of four cards follows the same pattern. The first card (one, five, nine) reveals some significant past experience. The second card (two, six, ten) shows how that experience has affected you, or what you've done with it. The third position (three, seven, eleven) shows what is coming into view in the near future. The fourth position (four, eight, twelve) indicates long-range possibilities. The final card, thirteen, indicates a possibility for a new begining" -- pg. 105.
