Arcus Arcanum - The Empress

Freddie

This is a card to me of the female archetype. With a pleasant look on face she sits in a garden near her castle with flowers and fruit surrounding her. In most tarot packs The Emperor holds an orb in his hand, in this pack The Empress is holding the orb symbolizing power and the royal bloodline. She holds the key to the life cycle and her mate the Emperor may have much power and glory, but he will never experience her mystery.

She has a bouquet of flowers covering her waist and it appears she is in the family way. The flowers may represent the beauty she contains in her womb. The Grapes, cherries and apples in the card symbolize her fertility and in a divination sense this card suggests to me creativity, progress and intuition.

She knows much about life and has attained great wisdom, but instead of becoming a cold affected person she has taken the path of love and understanding, because she knows this is the higher level path to spirtitual enlightenment.

That's an oak tree she's sitting under, and there are roses growing beside her--strength and beauty. And that appears to be a body of water, a stream or pond, in the middle distance. The water seems to indicate flow, continuity, reinforcing the fertility image with the fruits.

There appear to be cracks in the stone throne, but that oak tree is stronger yet, and it seems she will survive and flourish no matter what happens to man-made things.
