"Director's Cut" of the Hallmark Tarot

Hannafate

My deck has been out of print for a while, but I keep getting inquiries about it.

I have looked into publishing it myself, and it's actually feasible. The retail price of the new edition would be higher, about $35, but I would only be printing 500.

I would correct the black border that 7th House put on it, and use a symmetrical back design.

So... should I do this? Any opinions, suggestions, ideas?

Like the back and the picture. Vibrant colors too.

The second card is obviously THE FOOL, but are you going to add words like: World, Moon, Six of Wands, Ace of Swords etc etc etc.

DND :)

I'll be going through my collection of thousands of fonts for a nice one, readable, but not boring. That's just what I had on tap for a quick edit.

Might be an idea as when I first saw Card 20 I thought it must represent MOON.

I would never have thought something like TREE OF LIFE.

Ooh, good point.

The number cards currently look like this, which shouldn't be confusing. http://www.unseengallery.com/assets/images/htthumb4.jpg

But I think you're right, the court cards need text

Do you think the Major Arcana need text as well?

I love the backs! I'm rather font of black borders vs white borders. That mustardy yellow is nice though.

If the cards had standard titles I wouldn't bother to name them, but since you have non-standard titles, I think you should name them. And 20 should be the Judgement card. I'm not near your deck, but wouldn't the Tree of Life be 21 or The World?

I saw GO FOR IT! I'd buy that deck for the backs alone!

I was thinking the moon was rather the 7 of pears, but it is a beautiful card.

The gold border/purple backs go with the colorful deck. Show us when you find the font that works best. Hallmark deck is a nice one. 👍🏻

First off: I think your cards look nice and very approachable.

I suggest putting titles (at the bottom) to avoid confusion.

I also suggest you look into either print-on-demand or crowdfunding options or both. It's much less hassle printing a deck nowadays finances-wise. You don't have to limit yourself to a run of 500 if you don't want to.

Good luck! :)

Funnily enough, as soon as I clicked on the first image I heard "Tree of Life" in my head, but then thought "it's probably labeled something else though for #20" 😂

It's a lovely deck Hannafate - you can definitely tell you love the Hanson Roberts! And I agree that you shouldn't limit yourself to 500 when there are so many more options out there for independent artists' printing and social media marketing... Best wishes!
