"pitching" two ideas for a new deck (now with sketches)

For now these are just ideas, I don't have any sketches yet. My first idea is a "bad habits" tarot deck, where the devil card is a shopaholic (think about the cover of the book "confessions of a shopaholic" by Sophie Kinsella and you won't be far off). The second idea is a more traditional deck. The fool (with his dog) is a pawn in a board game. The field he is on says "start" and there's a hand that rolls a cup of dice. The devil card would feature a demon leaning over a crying woman who sits in a chair, he hands her a contract that says "your soul is mine"... I'm a bit hesitant posting this so early on, but I'm curious what you think about my ideas so far.

Edit: I've decided to go through with the more traditional deck first. It will be a majors only deck. Please keep in mind that these are some very rough sketches, the end result will be very different. I want to have a complete set of 22 rough sketches first before I finish any of them (digitally). Having said that, feel free to post any critique.

p.s. I've decided to let the fool throw his own dice. I tried to draw the cliff but that didn't work out too well, so the finished version will only have a board game.

I think the "bad habits deck" sounds like it would be fun project. Are you thinking in terms of just "innocuous bad habits".... or something past that?

I'm not sure about your image idea for the Fool.

Yes, he is at the beginning of his journey, and there will be some elements of chance in it.

But, is he a pawn for someone else's game? That idea seems counter to the ideas of self-discovery and naive faith in the cosmos. Perhaps the Fool should be the one rolling the dice?

Your idea for the Devil is appealing. I see the woman as being an older woman who has evidently led a life of indulgence. Furs, jewelry, fancy hairdo, and a little overweight. Time for her to pay for all that materialism. You wouldn't even need the contract, just have the Devil leaning over the back of her chair, grinning.

I like the image for the World card. I think it might need a little more of the joy that I normally get from that card, though -- maybe it's just that it's in black and white and in sketch-form, but this one seems a little gloomy.

The final version will definitely be more "joyful" and be in color.

p.s. I uploaded 4 new sketches. The hermit, the magician, judgement and strength. I do realize that strength still needs a whole lot of work. Right now the lion still looks too much like wolf. Besides, the idea behind the drawing is that the lady has so much control over the lion that she's not afraid to put her head in his mouth... That message isn't really coming across either. It looks like the lion/wolf is eating her. I will fix this and post new sketches, after my vacation. I'll be back in June.

Well, it certainly took me a lot longer than expected to update this topic. Sorry for the delay. I added a sketch for the emperor, the lovers, the wheel of fortune and the death card. The death card is actually a remake of an old drawing... And the strength card is still giving me a hard time, I need to get myself a photo of a lion and use it as a reference or something haha.
