Both protagonists are facing right, and are wearing pretty florid clothes. The figure in the background of th Ten holds a spear mirroring the page's wand.
Both are victorious, in a superior position (and on horseback, so they're both physically higher and more powerful than the other people in the picture) . Both are making a display of their power in a ceremonial way, with regalia like laurel wreaths and a flag which indicate their right to be in the position they're in - they have both either done something to earn it or, like Death, are there by divine right. They are both moving forwards.
