Dodal vs. U.S. Games Tarot de Marseille

Rusty Neon

Well, I've ordered the Carta Mundi (French card titles) version of the Tarot de Marseille at a French langugage bookstore here in town; it'll take six weeks to find out if it's available, so hopefully it's warehoused in Europe. It'll be a good comparison deck, although I doubt it'll be a frequently consulted deck. My gut feeling is that the Carta Mundi is as (imperfectly) close design-wise to the Dodal as the Marteau is to the Conver, so it should be alright. Analogous to the Marteau, I understand that some of the ambiguous details of the Dodal deck will not be present in the Carta Mundi deck. As well, the Carta Mundi colours are different from the Dodal's.

By the way, that Carta Mundi deck appears to be the same as the Carta Mundi/U.S. Games Tarot de Marseille, except that this second deck has English titles and is more easily and quickly obtainable. Unfortunately, a Marseilles deck just wouldn't be the same without French card titles. :)
