well, i assume it's not about the wicked, tricksy, false hobbitses, which i would associate with the seven of swords, and we just had that one. so. it must be what is wanted which, i presume, is the ring. which means the world to them. so - the world?

(i am, btw, one of the 87 people in the western world who hasn't watched the movie, and i tried to read the book and gave up posthaste.)

ooh, it's not the world...
you are absolutely right; it's not about the tricksy hobbitses (i totally thought about that!), it's about the precious.
or - more accurately - about how gollum feels about the precious...

I can't add to the 87, and I did read the book - over a 2 year span as I kept falling asleep after 2 pages or so. Never got easier. So I had to see the movies ... which seemed completely different than I remembered from the book - but I was assured that what I didn't remember was in there. So basically I wasted those 2 years and should have given up posthaste. [emoji10]

well, i must say that the hobbit is awesome, and the lord of the rings trilogy... well yeah, it does drag a bit, at times. i love the movies - and the animated one from the seventies is BRILLIANT, if you can find it.

edited: i just realized that you said you read one book, and that would explain it! the hobbit stands alone, and then there is the trilogy: three more books. ( ) the movies were produced in the opposite: the lord of the rings, and then the hobbit. okay, enough now - nerd alert!
