Your very own list of "Top Ten Decks of All Time"

Debra

Elsewhere on the forum, Inspired by the AT annual poll (see here: http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/cards/topten.shtml) mud is being slung with joyful abandon. The issues include the very IDEA of a top ten list, the criteria that ought to be applied in choosing the top ten, the fickle masses, etc. Democracy and the free market have been mentioned. Elitism and curmudgeonliness have entered the picture. It's fun.

The problem with the AT Top Ten lists is that *I* (and you, too) only get to vote for ONE deck as my favorite of the year, and ONE deck as the favorite of "all time."

How unfair that *I* do not choose the entire list.

Perhaps you feel the same way.

So here's your chance.

What are YOUR "Top Ten"? If you're so inclined, tell us why!

Debra, I like this topic. :) It's fun to see what others think, because we are each different.

Can I make my own definition? My top ten decks are my favorite , which are ones that are compelling, that challenge me, that broaden my thinking, though I may not find them beautiful or the easiest of my decks to use.

In no particular order, except that ToP does seem to be my top favorite:

Tarot of Prague
Bohemian Gothic Tarot
Jean Noblet Tarot
DruidCraft
World Spirit
Universal Waite
Liber T
Shining Tribe Tarot
Osho Zen Tarot
Thoth Tarot

OK, here's my selection in no particular order...

The Swiss 1JJ
The Argio Orell (published as the Tarocco di Alan)
The Andrie Outdet celebrating the French Revolution

The Lanvin
The Ancient Italian Tarot (soprafino)
The Minchiate Etruria
Il Tarocco Bizzarro
Tarocchi di Giuliertta e Romeo
The Tarocco Piedmontese from Modiano

There are plenty more but with a couple of hard to replace exceptions, these are the ones that get used.
